Yes, its that time again. "Bite the Wieeenie" at Pinks in Los Angeles.

The sub theme for this event is "Lane Splitting" or the most fun you can

have with your butt in a continuous high pucker mode!!!!

You've heard IBR riders, SPANK riders and CAL24 riders talk of the infamous

California lane splitting. Now's your chance to test yer gluttonous maximus

sphincter reflex by diving into the arm pit of Los Angeles for a midnight

stomach churning Pink's hot dog. Lane splitting will be at it's peak during

normal rush hour 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Pink's is an honest-to-god Hollywood icon, sub-cultural gathering spot and

2007 IBR bonus location. The establishment doesn't know we are coming nor

do they care. Whether you're President Bush, Lindsay Lohan, Kobe Bryant,

Elvis, Bill Gates, or Lisa Landry, everyone waits in line. And the 1-hour

wait at midnight for a $3 hot dog is a unique experience. Jacked up

pickups, Porsches, pimpmobiles, and junkers all share a miniscule parking

lot while stretch limos and Hummers circle the block while their contents

wait in the 1-hour line.

Bad news!!!!! THREE DOG NIGHT -- 3 hot dogs, wrapped in a giant tortilla, 3

slices of cheese, 3 slices of bacon, chili & onions has gone up to

$6.45!!!!!!!!

Why midnight??? It's a perfect Saddlesore Ride for WA, ID, MT, WY, SD, CO,

OK, NM, TX. Leave at late Friday night, arrive at Pink's to get your

witness signatures. There will be dozens of witnesses on hand. If you are

doing a IBA witness required ride, please let Dean Tanji know with your RSVP

e-mail.

12:00 midnight - Hot Dog Mass Consumption

I rode to the first one of these and it was a blast. Would love to ride to this one but my son and I have Van Halen tickets for that night at the Portland Rose Garden.

dougc

PS. There is a Motel6 in Hollywood, a few blocks away, with underground parking.

Oh, I thought we were heading to the drag strip and racing for 'Pinks' :)

Yeah, I was at that one too. It was fun meeting a lot of new people, and pimping my fuel cell. Don't think I can make it this time.

I also made it to the Pinks RTE several years back, believe it was late 2004 . Do know it was raining like Niagra Falls that night and the wind was really blowing and the LA streets and freeways were very slippery.

Met a lot of neat LDRs and got a lot of neat farkle ideas for my new 2005 which was mostly naked. First time I had seen a Tanji fuel cell mounted and I pleaded with Dean to sell me one which he did. It is a superb piece of motorcycling artwork, IMHO.

:p

I agree it was a blast and I recovered from the indigestion and gas from the Dogs, chili, hot sauce, etc. in about a week.

In spite of that, I plan to return to this years event for another meetup to Eat. :p

Well, now that we've all stuffed our collective guts with lots of El Bird, it's time to sit back, take a breath, give a nice large BELCH, and prepare yourselves - - - -

Cause it's only a week away - !!

So - I don't know if anyone is using Pink's for a SS1K finish - but anyone up for using it as a SS1K start? Ya know, stand in line for an hour, get your receipt, Dean, and no doubt multiple others can sign as the start witness, and once you've shoved that Three Dog Night into your face, you're guaranteed to have plenty of calories to burn over the next 1,000+ miles -

Not to mention the gas heating.

Just think - a Pink's SS1K - unlike any other ride in the world.

Hmmmm...... where could I turn around? .....

Methinks Streets & Trips calls .......

I think I'll cage it over and bring the wifee along.
ACK!

That's "RTE", not "CTE"!

Wish I could be there. Little chance of this... by 1 Dec, the 6-8 mountain passes I would have to traverse will have snow up the ***. :angry2:

Tempting. Very tempting. I'm halfway there, after work on Saturday night but....... I'm coaching my first MSF class Sunday morning and have to be there, wide awake and ready to go at 0530.

Perhaps next time.

:( Yea I know. But the wife isn't into riding (Long story  ) and 17 miles is barley worth suiting up anyways so this is one of the few chances I'll have for my wife to meet some of the looneys I ride with.

Looked for you at the Chiliburger ride.

Well, have had this on the radar but was never really sure if my desire would be enough to trek the questionable weather.

Surely it is going to be cold both directions (and no i aint slabbing down I-5)

anyway as i left for work this morning ..FINALLY our first snow of the year

renosnowPST.JPG

Ya, not much, I'm embarrassed to even call that snow, but being the first of the year and very tardy --we're glad to see it.

Good news is that it is starting to stack up pretty good, so maybe we'll actualy get a good accumulation.

So, now I'm re-energized to go to Pinks ...riding in the cold sucks, ..but riding in the cold snow is fun!! If it's doing this in Reno, Mammoth and Tonopah should be real treats as options to head south.

Decision by Tomorrow morning.

Chilly Ride For A Chillidog

Well the snow of the previous day broke and the skies got clear and cold. I decided to start down for the Bite The Weinie RTE at Pinks. Didn't commit as I wasn't sure if I'd get cold feet(pun, you get it?) and turn around if the cold weather became too much to bare.

07pinksRTE.JPG

26F when I left my house ....and it just got colder and colder. The real cold started near Bridgeport (15degrees) and then by Mono Lake it was just as chilly plus strong winds. Here is my cold bike with Mono Lake in the Background. Roads were in great and dry shape ...it was just COLD.

However, by the time I got to Bishop things were getting better and I knew the worst was behind me. Other than pulling into Lone Pine to discover that BOTH low-beams (Sylvania Silverstar) had blown .....I finally tracked down a few 9003's that were covered with 9years worth of dust at the town Hardware store.

07pinksRTE%20(1).JPG

While not part of the RTE activity, I elected to make a stop in Lancaster ..specifically Quatz High to witness the marching band competion to snag the bonus points offered by Kaitsdad. While not nearly as cold as what I had just come through, it was only 41degrees here and windy. These tough young folks were brave to do their drills out on the field in such conditions. My hat goes off to you Kait...

07pinksRTE%20(2).JPG

......Meanwhile, up in the stands, the proud parents were bundled up big time!!

07pinksRTE%20(3).JPG

I was one of the first ones at Pinks ...followed by this vehicle that sure caught everyone's attention.

07pinksRTE%20(4).JPG

It is a Kit-Kar from Europe that you build ...however it's owner had done some custom engineering to this one. The powerplant and rear drive is from a BMW K1200 .......fascinating to say the least.

07pinksRTE%20(7).JPG

Kaitsdad mind is at work designing a tail-dragger fuel cel. Hal would wear this fancy ride well .....that is if he'd take off that eye-piercing snow suit.

07pinksRTE%20(5).JPG

Inside Pinks the fun crew was making up meals for all the weiners who rode in for the midnight feast! Damn those dogs are good! I ahd the Spicy Italian Sausage, covered with Pastrami, mustard and cheese ....and of course onion rings.

07pinksRTE%20(6).JPG

This place is an Icon ....minimum of an hour wait and folks don't care

07pinksRTE%20(8).JPG

Check out this FJR color scheme and detail. It's owner Jim, (kjc625 on the forum) This bike is no parking lot FJR clone like the rest of ours are.

P1010066.JPG

GZ (Beeroux) .....I'm not sure what George did (this time) ..but he can incite a nice group of folks into MOB MENTALITY in nanoseconds. Here the angry mob pushing forward ...they all wanted to be the first throw at the public stoning. Note the guy with GZ's jacket clenched in his fist ...while Lisa Landy, Dean T and others prepare to whale away ........

Whatever you did GZ .......no doubt you earned this flogging.

AnddrewRIPsmall.JPG

Left Pinks around 1:45am or so and started the 575mile ride back to Reno. here I am freezing my *** off near Donner Summit. 19F and 65MPH winds. However, on whole, the ride back was much easier than the ride down.

++ Wanted to give Andrew the "Thumbs Up" Always in my thoughts.

Chilly, but sooo glad I went down. Good turn out (including no other than Michael Kneebone! ...what a treat for this hick from Nevada to say hello")

....Thanks Dean T for setting this up. ...renojohn

Good to see you Reno!

You got stones to cross Donner this time of year with the cold and all. YOWZA!

The "Mob Mentality" was folks admiring my new First Gear duds I'm testing for the Tucker Rocky folks. The gear has a few bugs but all in all is pretty nice.

That, and LL had her hand in my pocket, so life is SCHWEET! :D

Good seeing airbody at Pink's, good times Fa Sho.

GZ

Excellent RJ!

You're sense of adventure and willingness to take weather risks are greater than any other forum rider I can think of.

Yes, RJ, that IS a compliment!

Thought I might have 'splain that part to you, after all, you're a Neveda Hick, I'm a Ca hick..

Um.... my understanding is that Lisa Landry had her hand in your breast pocket.

It was DEAN who had his hand in your, uh, lower pocket!
