I think I've looked at every possible search criteria and found out the cost of a LOT of stuff; but I couldn't find out what D&H is really selling a new 2008 ABS for(or if they are still available).

Call them and ask. They aren't the type to jack you around and use smoke and mirrors, they will tell you what the OTD price is!

Thanks for the response; but I was specifically interested in what D&H was getting.

Take jwilly's advice. Call them and ask! Anybody that answers here will be speculating.....when it's it's so easy to get the right answer first.

The bike is 12k + your states fees.

And yes as of a week ago they could get more.

Well that may not be completely accurate. They would sell me one OTD for 12k (I am a Bama resident)

I called them yesterday and they were out of the 08. They were in the process of trying to get some more, but if I understood right that wasn't set in stone. I was told $11,999 was their sale price. I don't think you are going to find them much cheaper than that anywhere in the country.

jwilly is correct about these folks. I've bought 2 bikes from them in the last 6 months and been very happy with my purchases. I got a 08 fjr and kawasaki versys. Since you are out of state , you pay no tax on the bike until you title it in your state , which would be less than buying in state because their price will be the lowest in the good old USA. In addition , any item like heated grips or Heli setback that you add , all you are charged is for the parts , no labor charge. You can have the item drop shipped to them and they will install for free. Plus they are really nice folks. They are not your normal Dealer Stealer. Mark

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FJR is not available as a non-ABS model. Having never owned one before the '08 I recently bought, hasn't ABS always been a standard feature on the FJR?

I keep reading posts by people that mention how they bought the ABS model.

The FJR is currently only available with ABS. That's not always been the case.

2003 was the first model year to hit these shores, and it was NOT available with ABS.

2004 and 2005 model years there was a choice of ABS or not.

2006 and later, all FJRs come equipped with ABS.

Copilot,

You still needing input on this or did you call Renaa up?

They confirmed for me last Wed (7/2) that their order of the previous week or so was confirmed from Yamaha.

they confirmed that one of the two units coming in was for me that they would be cashing my deposit check that they already had in hand.

they were not able to confirm a delivery date so I can't buy a plane ticket yet for delivery.

OTD is $11,999. I'll pay taxes etc when I return to KS.

I'm not usually a pessimist but I keep waiting for something to go south with this deal....something out of their control b/c I truly think they are good folks.

Maybe b/c I was born in MO the show me state.

Anyhow, I checked around and others in Toledo, outside Lexington, said they'd sell for same price or slightly less. I found them on Cycle trader.

Hope this helps.

After reading through this forum and seeing what people are paying, even at the famed D&H, I feel pretty good about the deal I got on my ’08 in Arizona. With the sales tax in AZ being 7.85% and the yearly tags to ride it on the street came out to $266.01, I got a good deal at $13,500 OTD. $12195.12 before tax & lic.

I had considered buying out of state and going to get it. But at the time the weather back East really sucked and regardless of where I had made the purchase, I still would of had to pay AZ sales tax and license fees, making it more expensive than buying it locally.

Hear Hear!!

There is a lot to be said for buying locally. I am not involved with any dealerships and haven't been for 35 years next month, but I know that your local dealer can't give you good support if you don't help him keep the lights on. If your local dealer is a liar and a jerk, well then just forget about him... but if your local dealer is a decent guy with a responsible service department, there is a lot to be gained by giving him your business.

I haven't bought a new Honda in many years, but I regularly take pizzas or ribs by and visit with my buddies there. If I ever decided to buy that CBR1000RR, or the new V-5 we were discussing the other day, I'd tell him to get me one, and I would not ask about the price, OTD or otherwise. I know he'd take good care of me.

Olie it is best to deal with D&H.My bike originated there and I got a price quote this week of 11,999 for a new raven but are currently out of stock.I did not ask what the price for the YES program was but have seen quotes by other customers of D&H under $500 for the extended warranty.I feel supporting a good local dealership is best.If it is still a family ownership that cares about me then by all means they get my business.Locally the best price I have seen so far from a north Texas dealer is just under 13,500 at Stadium Yamaha in Irving Texas.Talk to Smokey or Jason there.Great bunch of folks there of you want to drive up to the Dallas area.Consider the sales tax on an out of state purchase!Shipping it may equal local state taxes helping you avoid paying that states tax plus you get a bike with showroom miles at your door. How cool is that? :D

who knows? we all went to D&H and rode home after being told "knock yourself out" by local dealers when asked to try and even get close to D&H prices. they had no interest in make the $200 i was offering them over D&H's prices. last anyone reported D&H is still selling the 48 month YES for $389. the state fees and taxes will be the same no matter who you buy from - EXCEPT that with D&H's actual sale price being lower, the % fees (and recurring registration/tag fees will be lower too).

btw: you do NOT pay 2 state taxes or (as local dealers lied) an inflated % tax for out of state purchases. you pay the sale price at D&H, ride home (700 miles is o 2 days taking it easy), enjoy the "vacation weekend", and then give the local court clerk your certificate of origin (from D&H) pay your taxes (less because the sale price is less) and go home happy. local dealers even include a $50 (or more) paper processing fee that is for them to do your leg work. it takes all of 15 minutes to do it yourself.
