Zumo 550

I have searched but didn't find any similar issues.

My 550 has stopped recieving power from the motorcycle cradle and just running on the battery power. I have also plugged it in to the car cradle same issue, however if I plug the power source in the car into the 550 instead of the cradle the unit powers up. This tells me that the issue is with the 550 unit or the contacts as opposed to the cradles. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions I have also searched and posted this problem over in the Zumo forum.

How long have you had the unit? Have you tried contact cleaner? Another thing that works is to take a pencil eraser to each contact then try reseating it. If it was only happening on the bike cradle, I would say to check the power cable at the unit and also if connected directly to the battery check that connection as well. I had problems where my negative was not making good contact at the batter and would cause an intermittent. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've my unit for about 6 weeks no issues until middle of last week. When I first realized it was running off the battery I checked by trying the in car cradle and getting the same result this implies to me that either the contact from the unit to the cradles are not good or it is an internal issue. I am going to contact Garmin tomorrow after the holiday,but figured the brain trust here on the forum would be the best place first.

I have tried the pencil eraser cleaning method there was no difference. I'll go to WallyWorld in the a.m. for contact cleaner
