Again, it has been a long time since my last post. So, maybe it is time to close out this thread.
Today (Nov. 27) is 7 months since my accident.
And, I had a final appointment with the orthopedic doctor in Roanoke, VA. He was impressed by the improvement in my arm function. His only suggestion is to continue to use my arm in as normal a way as possible. He said that nerve healing can continue for 1-1/2 years, so am hoping for some additional improvement. In addition, I will continue to do some physical therapy exercises at home.
At this time, I have mostly recovered. Fractures are healed. Fistula has almost closed. Endurance is improving. I've gained some weight and some muscle mass. The main issue is my right shoulder. I have maybe 80% range of motion that continues to improve slowly. And I still have some discomfort from the weakened muscles in my back and neck. Hopefully that will also improve.
Overall I am doing very well and have much to be thankful for - including all of your prayers, caring, and support.
