Notice the article in the first hit. It's a "corrected" time, which means it might be more or less than actual, with factors for air temp and pressure, altitude, whatever they think should be factored.

Connie14 owner told me some mag reviewed FJR, Connie, ST, and a Bmw.He said in the qtr mile Connie did a 10.5 @ 130mph. True?
Motorcyclist did a comparison in their November 2007 issue. They reported the C14 doing a quarter mile in 10.49 sec at 130.9 mph. The FJR did 11.02 sec at 124.1 mph. The C14's time seems a bit "fast" since Ricky Gladson was reported in another issue as doing a 10.7 on a stock 14.

In the end, does it all really matter how fast the bike is in the quarter mile, or even top speed?

At the speeds modern bikes achieve, most car owners can only dream of this type of acceleration and top end speed.

I would say a lot depends on the rider, we are noting very small time and speed differences. They are all moving pretty good down the road.

it's fast enough to beat the EMTs to the crash site by about 30 minutes.
But it's not fast enough to outrun the ability to see that monstrosity of a muffler, sheez that thing is absurd!

That's still flying. Since it comes from multiple sources...I guess I gotta admit to the blow hard on the Connie that he's right. Thanks for the feedback. FJR is fast enough and I prefer the looks without bags but local Kawa-Yammer dealer says that Connies are outselling them at about 4 to 1 at their store.

The Kow is faster and thats all it's got. It's one if the ugliest bikes on the road. When you sit on it, you feel as though your on a car. It is not as smooth as the FJR and does NOT handle as well.

IMHO, Kawasaki has never had an idea of there own, they just wait for Suzuki ( Busa ), Honda, ( CBX ), BMW ( K100RT ) to do something and then they try to one up everyone.

I wouldn't buy one of those ugly pieces of crap if it was that last bike company left in Japan.

Ya, it's Friday, enjoy!

It's a pretty quick bike; a 'Busa quicker, we're (FJR) a little less quick. As far as faster, not sure; what's the top end (doesn't really matter that much either). Merely a tree in the forest (I think our forest is a much nicer place).

Keep in mind, though, that those speeds are being achieved in the hands of (what I would hope are) experienced professionals. I kinda doubt most of us MSF- & Lee Parks-trained road riders could consistently achieve those same times.

Wow! Pretty harsh. I love my FJR, but I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen on a C14. Like our FJRs it's a magnificent piece of modern motorcycle technology. As for speed, while the C14 is no doubt faster, these are in fact sport touring bikes, not race machines. A few tenths in the quarter mile seems to me to be of little consequence.

I would prefer to see results from a rider who can properly handle the FJR on the dragstrip keeping the revs high while shifiting. I tend to not trust "results" in motorcycle or automobile magazines.

Get Ricky Gadson on both bikes then we'll see which bike is better.

I'm with you. I rented a 14 for a day in AZ and thought it was a great bike. Personally I thought it shifted smoother than the FJR with less lash in first. And I thought it was an easier feeling cruise in 6th gear than mine has in 5th.

But I like feeling pretty...with the bags off I get compliments on the Feej all the time. And I bought the AE and like no clutch in traffic. The 14 looks like it would be pretty goofy looking without bags, if not ugly.

I'd be happy on any sport tourer that has an inline 4. I like them all. And I don't believe that getting on any of em is going to provide a totally superior riding experience.....unless you need a beamer emblem for snob appeal.
