Need Rear Shock

The stock shock on my 2005 has more than 80K on it, and it's kinda given up the ghost. I feel like the bike's constantly trying to buck me off, and the rebound dampening's totally gone out the window.

I don't have $500 to >$1,000 to spend on an after-market replacement. Anyone out there replaced their low-mileage stock shock and have it sitting in the garage looking for a home?

80K on the stock shock? Holy way past the window Batman. More like your settings were off the planet.

I just did this on my bike around 25k. I'm going to PM you with a potential source for a new shock.

I'd like that source if possible :assassin: New aftermarket shocks are way expensive lol.

Thanks, all. And got your PM, Rog. Thank you. Does an '03 fit the '05? You're at the front of the line with your very generous offer. Without meaning to sound mercenary, I'd like to keep the thread going to understand what all's out there and what my options are (your price sounds pretty good though!). Hans

Another thought is just to ask my dealer what a replacement shock runs, as another data point.

The 03 will fit but have your 05 spring put on it. The 03 was known for having a much softer spring than 04-05. Gen 2 shocks will fit also. I think you will find that a new stocker is close to the price of a good shock.

Hans - Comb ebay and Craigslist for a used OEM or used aftermarket shock. Also look into junk yards. I seem to recall not long ago a couple people parting out some Gen1's on this forum.

Hans, I've got a stock one off my 05' (removed at 27,303) that you can have for shipping charges. Or you could ride over here, drink the IPA in the fridge I don't care for, sack out here, ride the next day in the hills and take the shock home with ya.

My Penske was 846.00 delivered to my door. It is light years better than a stocker and rebuildable when you need it. Go ahead and bill it to Skooter. If you need his CC info just let me know
