From another forum I visit....anybody in the PNW that has wondered about this competitive rally thing and doesn't want to go do an 11 day Iron Butt Rally or even a 24 hour event 3 states away.....this is the perfect taste. I rode this last year and had a great time, saw some new roads I had never been on, and tested a few of my rally routing skills. IMO, it's a perfect first try for a newbie. 7 hours and you'll cover about 300 miles. Thanks to the newly formed Umatilla Lion's Club, I'm organizing another scavenger hunt this year. This time the date is April 24 and the start/finish will be Spillway Park in Umatilla, right below McNary Dam. We'll do basically the same format with a 7-hour ride and places to visit throughout Oregon and Washington. I was thinking of a Spokane, Portland, or even Canada bonus, but you guys might actually try for it.
I tried to post the ride to the forum last month, but my message got bumped because I mentioned an entry fee.
Anyway, tell all your friends and I hope to see you there. I'm bringing new tires this year too.

I'm checking on the start time now, but think it was 8 a.m. last year. I think the entry was like a $30 donation and that's CHEAP when it comest to a rally. Typical outlay for a Utah 1088 is something more like $600 - $700 including hotel room.
And two rookies won the event! A guy on a Ducati Monster with 100 mile range and a guy who wandered by riding a Connie tied with him. Your truly with all his rally skills placed third.
And if there gets to be sufficient interest I'll be looking at having a BBQ at my place the night before for those that might want to make a weekend trip out of this.
