Had a chance to ride both bikes today:
K1200GT: 2004/5 models go for $ 8900-10'000
pretty nice motor (brick) 130HP/rear suspension just fine, front not adjustable
quality of fit and finish very good, solid
ride comfort just ok, not suitable for very long rides/tours
needs considerable effort to make bike turn into corners (tires were close to new)
R1200GS:
motor ok (typical boxer)/ rear suspension very soft, front not adjustable
quality of fit and finish poor, considering what these bikes cost it had a ridiculously cheap feel and rattles like a 15 yr old bike
ride comfort ok, very nimble for its size
Back on my FJR I felt blessed to own such a solid performer in every aspect i.e. suspension, power delivery, build quality, ease of maintenance if one chooses to,
ride comfort is perfect and has an unmatched and stunningly sexy look... :yahoo:
makes me wanna buy a second one... :dribble:
Y'all have a great day
