Not sure if you'll have a car, but south of SFO in Redwood City is the Hiller Aviation Museum. Nice little museum started by helicopter builder Stanley Hiller. I think there's also a musem in the International Terminal right at the airport, but never seen it.
The museum at Coyote Point Park is very close to where you'll be staying...

Take the cable car down to the water at fishermans wharf and eat at one of the restuarants outdoor areas.
A bowl of clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, a basket of fried shrimp, find yourself a good place to sit and gorge yourself and you'll see some interesting characters down there. don't miss it you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the responses. Only have 2 free nights. Fisherman's Wharf is high on the list. Won't have free time during the day, so won't be able to hit the museums this trip...maybe next time. Scuderia and/or Munroe will also be tough as they both close at 6 during the week.

Yes, Fisherman's Wharf... then catch a cable car to Union Square... go to the Westin St. Francis and take the glass elevator to the top and enjoy the spectacular view (given there's no fog... and you don't have a fear of heights)...

Take a spin down Lombard Street...
Walk along the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy the view of the bay... it doesn't get really dark until about 9 p.m. so you got lotsa time...
Go visit the Haight Ashbury district for a real people-watching treat...
Catch a show downtown... try "Wicked" at the Orpheum Theatre...
There... that oughta take care of ya!! B)

You didn't say how long you'll be there, or when, or how much time you'll have. But BART goes to the airport; it's fast and inexpensive. If you can't find something to do in SF, you're not trying. For example, here's a link to find rates. Round-trip from SFO to the Embarcadero is $16.20. Touristy, but a cool area of the city. You can get a cable car from there, or a boat tour to Alcatraz, or shop, or hit all the bars and restaurants you could ever want. A major shopping area of the city is around Union Square. Just bring a whip and chair to hold off the panhandlers. Still, it's a pretty amazing city.

Flight SCHEDULED to arrive (USAirways, arrival times are usually a guideline and rarely the rule) at 5PM on Tuesday Jun 29, meetings during the day Wednesday, wrapping up at 4, leave early Thurs am.
Thanks also, Tyler. Given me plenty of options. All of this sounds a lot more fun than sitting in the room and watching planes land and take off.
Once I understood what your time constraints were, it was easier to give you an abundance of choices to fit your whim!
The City offers a plethora of options... just depends on what floats your boat.
Look into BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and see where the stops are and explore. BART has a station at SF Airport. All of the wharf area has great food and fresh bread.
