Well friends, next weekend is the one year anniversary of an accident that threatened to be a defining moment in my life and was close to being the ending moment. I find that certain topics become wearisome after a while and the topic of this accident is becoming one of them. I have not let the incident become a defining moment in my life nor will it need to be regularly referenced from here on out.

The One Big Exception:

This fabulous FJR community took up a collection for the all volunteer EMT team that were amongst the first onsite and did a quick and professional job of tending to me and my wife. They knew their business, secured us, readied us for transport, and got us out of a very tough area using their common sense and creativity. They used a combination of people, two local boats that were fishing in the area, ambulances, and a MedStar (life-flight) helicopter to get us to to the closest trauma centers. In response, this FJR community provided about a thousand bucks and a few friends locally provided a bit more.

There will be a ride this Saturday to honor this EMT team. The goal is strictly to thank them, hug them, draw attention to their needs in their local community, and present them the check that represents the donations from this community. We will need to be at Vaggen Field in Colville at 3:00 to take part in a potluck that the EMT's are throwing together. Newspapers and local TV news have been notified and it is hoped they will be in attendance to help chronicle the efforts of these fine folks. The MedStar helicopter plans to fly in and take part in this shindig and is schedule to land at 4:00. I can tell you this: The EMT team is totally stoked we are coming out, the event last year was a big deal in their work lives. The money, however modest it appears, is a big deal to them. It will go to better equipment not normally supplied and maybe help with a holiday party for them at the end of the year.

If you are in the area and would like to go on a very nice ride, PM either me or my friend Panman who is doing the route planning. The crew going so far is planning a Saturday early meet and a Sunday return.

I will not be able to attend in person but will be there in spirit. Nice that you are giving back to those who often go unnoticed yet are always there to help those in need and make a huge difference in the decision as to whether we live or die. :clapping:

Outstanding! :clapping: :clapping:

Is the donation site still active? Looks to be but I can't tell for sure

Very cool. Wish I could be there.
Same here. :clapping:

Could you please tell them that there are MANY here from all over the country that wish they could be there to thank them in person?

These are the guys and gals that deserve so much for what they do...going out and dealing with trauma and life threatening issues on a moment's notice, based on someone's call for help.

My salute to them from Wheaton, IL. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

It appears that there is some interest in others going, so it will happen something like this. There will be two route's headed for Rusty's Drive Inn in Cashmere for a meet up.

One for the South end guys either meeting up at the intersection of 90 and 18 or up the street at the Shell station on Snoqalmie Pkwy and SE Douglas St at around 7:00 am.

My link

The other for the North end guy's leaving Hwy 2 and Main at the Standard station at around 7:00 am.

My link

Cashmere to Colville we will go 2 to 97 and up to Tonasket then 20 to Colville.

My link

After we are done most likely around five we will be headed to Coulee Dam to spend the night at the Columbia River Inn. This will be thru the Colville Reservation.

My link

Sunday will see folks going their own ways, I'll be headed home something like this.

The scenic route.

One thought would be either to contact Beamer or myself so we would know who to expect and wait for, or not. :p

What time is the South crew plan on hitting Cle Elum? A trip over Blewett and back is a good stretch of the FJR legs in the morning.

I can't make it but I have a 20 spot if you link the donation site here...
Don, I appreciate the offer but I am keeping this bad boy locked down now just to make it easier on everyone. I will make sure a 20 makes it with your name on it and you can buy me a beer the next time we are riding together somewhere.

Brian - between 0800 and 0815. Maybe meet at the little drive in burger joint just on your side of Cle Elum?

For you folks joining us on the southern route, we will leave the shell station at 7:00. Kickstands up NLT 7:05.

Enjoy the ride. Wish I could join, but I'll be changing tires, doing oil changes, lubing and spider inspection in preparation for a Montana run the following weekend.

Well put BReamer! Looking forward to making the trip over on Saturday.

Which route are you taking George?
Panman and I + others will be leaving Monroe at 0700 from the Chevron on the east side of town. Meet up with the south end crew in Cashmere.

Interested?

Yes! I will do everything I can to be there right on time. BUT, if I don't make it in the time allotted don't wait for me. A couple loose ends here might have me going over SR20 and meeting up with y'all in Tonasket. There is also the possibility I will be watching grandkids. I will show up if I can. I would also need to make a connection on the other end of this, a logistic nightmare but I'm working on it.
