I want to place an Eastern Beaver pc-8 under the seat and to my novice eye the best route is under the tank along the frame rail but is there a better way?

thats what I did for the fuzeblock - but ran a nice thick ground to the battery as well.

Grounding back to the battery could help with avoiding "noise" if you ever install an intercom, CB, etc. It is easier to do just do it right, than diagnose it.

Here is how I ran mine.

I started out with power under the seat. Didn't like it, so moved it under the dash instead.

I actually have both.

I have a 12V switched power strip located up in the front faring that powers the heated grips via dash mounted heat-troller, radar detector (now permanently located in the glove box) and power to the AVCC, and I also have my Frugal Yankee PDB located under the driver's seat where it is most convenient to hook up our heated electric gear.

Having them split up that way makes it much more convenient than having to run a whole lot of wires back and forth under the tank. Also, the heated gear doesn't care much about electrical noise you may pick up under the tank.

where did you get the over braid?
You can find this stuff in a bunch of places, like auto zone, radio shack, etc.. There is a heat resistant type that should be used for running under the tank unless you want melted goop all over the place.

I wish I had done that. My RD seems to pick up noise from the FJR's electrical system when the bike is under sustained high RPM load. Dropping the RPM's seems to stop the noise induction. Can be a little bit of a PITA.

Mine is heat resistant and I just went on line to order it. I ordered a few diameters to have it around.

It comes in different colors as well if you want to color code everything (or just feel like a splash of color).

Does anyone have a link for him? I bought mine locally in Canada so probably not too much help here. :)

Here's a link to Mcmaster-Carr. Peruse to your heart's content.

Probably too late, and it does require removing plastic, but I'd suggest following the original loom.

From under the saddle, down the right side, then thread through to beside the radiator and up to the fuse/coil area by the battery.

(Click on image for larger view)

It can all be neatly tied to the original loom, and use any of the original clips.

That'll do it! I didn't take the pix of the exact routing but it went along the right side, tucked in all neat like, and thru the frame out by the D panel. I have connectors coming out there. ;) Good luck. ;)
