Now updating at the top of this thread!

We can all put that bad news behind us!

Wednesday June 13, 2007 15:00 EDT

Kevin called to report from his Scab visitation.

Scab is out of ICU!!!! Wooooooohoooooooooo!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Tube has been removed from his lung and he is very sore. But definitely improving.

Kevin said there are some ugly wounds from the broken ribs and we have to add a broken clavical to the list of Scabimpacts.

(Editor's note: Not sure how you spot ugly wounds on Scab, but I'll leave that alone for now!)

Scab is in Room #929, of the:

Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center

Original Post - OLD NEWS!!!

Just received voice message from Mrs. Scab. Our dear friend Scab has gone down on the bike. He is in ICU with broken ribs, ruptured splene and more. I'm calling for more info and will post update ASAP.

Call it prayer, call it Kharma, call it what you want, but a good man needs our help in any way we can contribute.

*** UPDATE ON SCAB

*** Monday June 11, 00:30 hours

Just spoke with his wife.

Scab went down on Friday about 1:30 in the afternoon. Got caught in a sudden and severe thunderstorm. Greatly reduced visibility and conditions contributed to his overrunning a stop sign at a T-intersection. He doesn't remember anything past his head hitting the ground. Witness said bike slid across the highway into a parking lot with Scab following like rag doll.

Scab is doing okay, but is still in ICU due to bleeding from collapsed lung. He is conscious and speaking, although not always coherently. I told his wife that was not unusual, we are used to that from him. :)

Bike is totaled but insured.

Sounds like our friend is recovering but it will definitely be a long time before he is ride ready.

Just spoke with JWilly. He met BB and the rest of family Scab, and was allowed to visit with Scab a bit.

David (Scab) appears to be okay. He is in extreme pain but has no life threatening injuries at this time. Everyone has high hopes that he will be moved to a regular room in a day or so. Out of ICU will be a very good thing!

He has five broken ribs with several broken in multiple places. There's also some appreciable road rash on one arm. The punctured lung is improving and the bleeding has reduced. So he is being treated for pnuemonia symptoms because of his inability to breath deeply. Broken ribs have a severe effect on breathing ability.

Jason left a laptop with Scab that he will be able to use once he gets out of ICU. So we hope to hear from him personally in a couple days. It looks encouraging. Please keep the prayers and other positive energy flowing his way.

Tube has been removed from his lung. He has managed to sit up some with support. Pain meds are causing him to cop a feel from every woman within reach. (Can't believe they actually believe it's the morphine!)

Sounds very encouraging. He may make it out of ICU tomorrow.
