I dont know Silent............... I think it looks like it needs a larger pipe................HAHAHAHAHAAHA ........ I think the R&D team on the exhaust were smokin CRACK!!! :dead: :dead:

Well, the muffler is big and ugly because it contains the catalytic converter. Just get an after market slip-on and you remove the heat and weight of the cat, and you can easily slip it back on when you want to be stealthy again.

Do the bags go off and on as easily as they do on the FJR? Looks like they hang on there by a similar mechanism.

Straight Pipes is the way to go!! Loud pipes save lives!! :meeting:

Looks pretty decent without the bags.

I think it'd be easier to make a ZX14 feel right (distance riding) than to make a C14 look right.

That thing is almost goofier-looking than a K-series BMW, if it didn't have that engine in it I don't think anyone would give it a second look.

I think I like it. But, if they're smart, they'll provide plugs to cover the holes when the bags are off (like the trend setting FJR).

I like it.

Anyone notice the 190/50 tire on the back? That's gonna cost a couple $$$ more when your buying rubber. Its also running Bridgestone BT-021's.

I wonder how easy its going to be to get the fairing off to change the oil on this thing?

Now I just need someone to take pics under the tank. Gotta see how easy it would be to stick a fuel cell on this badboy.... :p

That pic is still the OLD plastic. The new one with the "removable" (read - add on) deflectors is not nearly so clean. The tank looks like a pregnant guppy (IMO) and will obviously not accept most tank bags. The muffler - jeeezzz, whatever happened to Kaw's "mass centralization" effort. If it has a CAT internal then it will have the polar moment caracteristics of a num-chuck. It has some nice features if you can get past the visuals but I don't think they are going to temp many FJR riders over.

I don't know their marketing strategy, but, my guess is that they are more concerned with having old Concours owners upgrade to the new one rather then tempt FJR riders to switch. However, there will be some, including some on this forum, that will make the change.

I think you're right but that's to be expected even if you are introducing a Bergman. I have gone on one Kaw forum from time to time as I initially had an interest. There have been lots of posts of dissapointed waiters who cancelled deposits and bought FJR's for various reasons. I'm thinking that they were targeting the FJR more than the C-10 as they matched the price exactly, specs are almost identical. HP/weight - FJR 4.45 GTR - 4.41 etc, etc Also the C-10 guy seems to be more of a "value" buyer. I hear a ton of resistance from those guys, not to the bike, but to the price. After all it was a 55% increase over the 06 C-10! I think that if you take the next FJR up even 25% you'd hear a ton of bad mouthing from the fold.

I was going to throw in a dig and say that Yamaha wouldn't keep a model around relateively unchanged for 15 or 20 years (like the Concours or KLR 650), but, I soon remembered a dinosaur called the V-Max.

Lots of numbers getting tossed around in comparisons lately. Just wondering if the comparisons are “apples to apples”? For instance the 4.41 to 4.45 ratios. Isn’t that a comparison of the feejer’s dry weight ratio to the GTR’s wet weight ratio? :shok: Also, aren’t those numbers a ratio of #’s/ HP rather than HP/weight?

Also, if it is dry vs. wet. Is MamaYam calculating that dry weight sans bags?

Somebody’s gotta standup for the GTR, right? :bike:

I'm thinking we should wait until we see an independent weighing of the bike. Motorcyclist Magazine puts the AE at 687 wet. If we beleive mamayamaha, the AE weighs 11 more lbs than the A which puts the A at 676 wet. Will be curious to see where the GTR comes in.
