Well kids,

this one's in the books. And what a thick book it makes.

Stories out the wazoo, and they keep coming in. Folks had fun while getting Spanked pretty hard.

Big Dogs blew it, newbies and mid-pack Vets stepped up and performed admirably.

Here is a link to some pics from our Staff photographer Steve Hobart.

Holding up Rally Drawers #5 is our winner.

And now for the results.........

Terry Neale took the big bowling trophy on his 1200GS, but he has an FJR. Jerry White takes second and Doug Webb takes third.

GunMD and Mark Crane both exhibited very mature behavior by calling it quits instead of riding recklessly and risking injury or worse to themselves. BRAVO! Gun got back in time, Crane didn't. I applaud them for their decisions and present them as Gold Mark Standards for Rally Participants.

More stories and stuff later in this thread.

Damn, I love my job.

Are you telling me that I could have moved up one position in the standings if I'd just worn my underwear at the final check in?

Gunny and Crane - wise decisions. Safety is priority. Good Job.

GZ, what a rally it was. Put me down for 2008.

Oh yeah - Thank You!

Photo #43 is a keeper!

Too bad it's locked down for download to my personal foto gallery of FJR pilots I admire and respect. But I respect the fact the 'grahpher spent time and energy and wants/needs to protect his property.

And in any any any case, what a ride you all had!

Looking forward to the behind the scenes stories...

.. bmw final drive failure?

.....My personal hero TurboDave's ride? Jeesh I can only hope I can do what he can do when I'm his age..

.......hell, I'm not sure I can do it now...

and KaitsDad! - wow dude...

you have come a long way from 'I met a Long Distance Legend Today' thread.....

That was some good fun and I hope to start the ride report tonight ...some good stories to share.

A sneak preview:

- kudos to GZ for a very unique and great rally

- FJR's did well on rally

- Pic of my obese girl getting her fat ass caught between two posts

Not sure who these guys are, but one is old and the other is polite .....which is worse than being old. They were part of the spanking and brought fun and enjoyed good fun

------

After 10miles of dirt to get to this groovy bonus I was feelin' great and high on the fact that I wasn't being a street ***** on this rally. I also was using the overgrown sport bike like an adventrue touring machine -crusing dirt at 70mph and scraping the bottom of the bike and bottoming out the limited suspension travel countless times

......Sign says no motor vehicles and some posts securely put in the ground to enforce that. Not being one to embrace such authority, I took a look and figured I could blow through there no problem. Mirrors barely, bars no problem and then !!BAM!! terrible noise and it felt like someone took a huge hook to the bottom of my bike ...it stopped instantly as my helmet bounced off the windscreen.

Wedged in there so hard that it took me 15minutes of grunting to push it back out. Bags are scraped pretty good but the fiberglass came back to shape for the most part but not perfect.

LOTS of stories to tell, hopefully ride report complete in the next few days. ..stay tuned. ...renojohn

This *may* be why those French police with FJR's have sidebags that are skinnier than stock to split traffic.....who knew the mirrors are narrower than the bike's ass?

Classic

Nice job all around. And RenoJohn, if you put some FZ1 mirrors on your Feejer you can actually use them as a gauge for clearance, unlike the stockers. as you now well know. Glad you mostly came out unscathed. I cringe at what it would have been like if you were going faster!

Hey Reno, is that the Carrizo Plain overlook? Dude, the photo was a 30 second walk from where you were supposed to park your bike. Doh!

OK...a new post (I know, I know) to show off a couple of pics from the SPANK Rally.

Hal copies info onto his map...

GZ tells a story...or something. Who really knows?

Oh, and there seems to be a theme at these things...don't leave your camera unattended.

I'll spare you all the pain. I knew it had taken place last night at Stone, but several beers allowed me to forget about it entirely until I put the CF card into my computer just now and BAM...there they were. Two bare, white, thousand-mile *****. *******s.

Oh yeah, and George doesn't phuck around when it comes to rally swag...
