Many of us will have a three day weekend on February 17th. I am putting together a ride that will start in Fairfield, go over through Napa, up to Pengrove and then out to Bodega Bay for lunch. From there the ride will continue up the coast to Stewart's Point. If you have never ridden Skaggs Springs Road from the coast to Dry Creek, it is rated as one of the best twisty roads in California. From Dry Creek it will be over to the Anderson Valley, down to Calistoga, down the Silverado Trail and then over the top and down Wooden Valley Road and back to Fairfield. The route is about 230 miles and takes about 5 1/2 hours without stops. For you laggards that can't get up early, you can pick up the ride where Hwy 12 connects with Hwy 116 or in Pengrove or Bodega Bay. The real fun is Skaggs Springs Road! (Rain will cancel the ride.)

Here is the route....

Directions

Coast run route - 222 miles,

Approximately 5 hrs 27 min not counting stops

Leave Starbucks on North Texas in Fairfield at 9:00 am

Get onto Hwy 80

to Hwy 12

(merges with Hwy 121)

Right onto Arnold Dr (there is a 76 gas station here if some want to join us at this point)

Left onto Hwy 116

Right onto Adobe Rd

Right onto Adobe Rd (when it turns into Frates Rd) to Pengrove

< pick up riders waiting for us -- or at gas station >

Left onto Old Redwood Hwy

Go over Hwy 101 to Chevron gas station

Leave gas station

Right onto Stony Point Rd

Left onto Pepper Rd

Right onto Tomales-Petaluma Rd ( If you want we can go by the Wildflour Bakery in Freestone... If you have never been there it is a treat... All stone oven cooked breads and apple cinnamon rolls)

Right onto Hwy 1 north

to Bodega Bay and FOOD (recommend the Boat House Restaurant or the Crab Shack on the Commercial Wharf) Need to gas up in Bodega Bay.

Leave food going north on Hwy

Right onto Stewart's Point Rd

it changes to Skaggs Spring Rd

it changes to Dry Creek Rd at Dutcher Creek Rd

stay on Dry Creek

Left onto Canyon Rd

under Hwy 101

Right onto Geyserville Ave

Left onto Hwy 128

(pass Ida Clayton Rd --sigh)

to Calistoga

Left onto Lincoln Ave (downtown)

Right onto Silverado Trail

Left onto Hwy 128

Right onto Hwy 121

to Wooden Valley Rd and home

Looks great, Terri says she will be there so I guess I will have to try to be good again.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: See you at Starbucks on Sunday Feb. 17 :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Hmmm -- this looks like a fun one, Rich. Since that is NOT a weekend I'm likely to be found fighting crowds at a ski resort, I may have to get Judy up early for a cold trek to the starting point.

Sounds like a fun one. I'll put it in the calendar and see you there.

I'm not that familiar with the Starbucks on N. Texas in Fairfield, but googlemaps says it's at 3334 N. Texas, right next to I-80. Izzat the spot?

You are correct. If you get off of I-80 on North Texas it is about one or two blocks off the freeway. If you are coming from the east you will exit the freeway at North Texas and then go over the freeway and come down North Texas to the Railey's Shopping Center. Starbucks is just on the left.

If you are coming from the west you will also exit on North Texas and head south (to the right). The Railey's Shopping Center is a block down on the left.

I am looking forward to meeting and riding with you.... Rich

Yup that's it, right where Chief Solano Drive In Theater used to be. Kind of across the street from where the old Muffin Treat burned down, but it wasn't called the Muffin Treat when it caught fire. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Mike

Yummy, please add me to the roster of this tasty ride. Christy is on the fence but leaning towards staying home.

If it works out to do this ride, why don't you plan to come up via 680 and we can ride up together.

This sounds like fun. I don't know if I can make it yet or not. I'm going to put it on the calendar and I'll let you know for sure when it get's a little closer. Put me down as a definate maybe. Just to confirm, is this ride going to be on Sunday the 17th, not Saturday or Monday.

That was my plan... :) Chez JB is still marked in my GPS.
