This **** is getting way too cosmic man!
They are in an alternate dimension. :dribble: They've taken it to a "whole nuvver level"! :blink:
OK, I fixed it.

I took a ride on the FJR and I went into an alternate dimension. A voice told me i'd know where it was in time, but the real question is will I care?

Probably not.

This can't be fixed. :lol:

I wonder if we should require a drug test from Mike before he is allowed to participate on this ride? This isn't the Magical Mystery Tour! Course.... now that I think of it, a drug test might eliminate most of us! Remember this is the anniversary of the 1967/1968 Summer of Love in San Francisco. JB do you remember it.... You Berkley Philosophy Major!

Here is a picture of me in my senior year at Berkeley standing at the base of the Campagnile on May 15, 1978, celebrating Norwegian Independence Day with a bunch of fellow Norwegian students. I'm holding a class textbook, The Empiricists. (My 18-yr-old daughter has this picture of me framed in her bedroom.)

When I ride now, 30 years later, still wearing Ray Bans....

Hey! This is a milestone year for me: 30 years since I graduated. ****. I'm old....

But not as old as Old Fat ******* or even Dr. Rich, who remembers the Summer of Love, which occurred 10 years BEFORE I was at Berkeley. Let's see.... In 1967-68 I was living in Massachusetts and wearing a peace symbol around my neck while hanging with my 8th-grade buddies. A salient memory from 1967-68: walking down the middle of our neighborhood street at night, four abreast with arms around each other's shoulders, singing Hey Jude at the top of our lungs.

And just for the record, I didn't smoke pot...much. :rolleyes:

-----------------------------------------------

As an afterword, here's a picture of me and my son (with the Campagnile in the background), who is now a senior at Berkeley (physics--which is a lot like philosophy, only, uh, you know, true). Still wearin' those Ray Bans! (My sister's comment after seeing this pic: "You son's a better dresser than you." Yep.)

Let's see...I was at Navy bootcamp in May 1967, then sent off to Pensacola, FL. I may have "heard" about it. I'm positive my sister was there since she moved to that area after high school just after I left for the service. (And yes, she was a "little hippy chick"!)

Thet wuz near a hunnert yars ago, wern't et? Er, least near a lyfetyme er two.

1967, I was in the fifth grade, I turned 18 right about the end of draft registration requirments. Graduated early from High School on the Honor Roll and its been all down hill from there. Worked in the same job for 35 years and still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. :yahoo: :yahoo: Life is good, just think of the alternative. :blink:

I was 18 for the Summer of Love in San Francisco, and I definitely remember the draft. I guess that does make me old! I enlisted in the Coast Guard and went though boot camp in Alameda on Government Island. We used to escort the liberty ships going to Viet Nam from Port Chicago out to the Farallon Islands. We also picked up the jumpers off the Golden Gate Bridge. We were not allowed to wear our uniforms off base due to the threats against the military. I guess us old farts are the only ones that remember the Summer of Love. I raise my hand high and admit that I am a member in good standing of the old fat *******s club! I do remember a joke about Berkley that circulated about that time... They always said that Cal could win the national championship in football if someone could figure out a way to put cleats on sandals.

My ride status needs to be downgraded to a "definite maybe".

My FJR goes into the shop tomorrow (Sat) for the "dreaded tick fix", so my riding will be contigent upon:

If the back-ordered cam chain and tensioners arrive at the dealer;

If the machine shop can get my cylinder head repaired;

If I can get the bike home on Sat., Feb. 16;

If I can get the new tires (now in my garage) mounted for the ride;

If I can get the wiring re-attached........

.....(Yes, I am partial to my GPS, Radar Detector & Kenwood radio)....

That's a lot to hope for in a short time. Wish you luck and hope to see you next Sunday.

Mike

I thought it was 2 Sundays??? :unsure: Today is the 2nd, next weekend would be Sunday the 10th, then Sunday the 17th..... :blink:

Regardless, I was probably heading straight home after lunch rather than enjoying another couple of hours with the group. Monday is a work day for my company and I get up @ 0330.

My Bad, it's 2 Sundays. I am so looking forward to a group ride and trying to avoid the thought of another Mercedes class . I have to sit through another day long lecture on Feb. 9.

I also have NAFO on the brain, staying with friends in Steamboat on Wed. before riding down to Golden.

Yeah....but I'll have a nice and "vewy vewy kwyette" FJR when it comes home. No more rattley-tickety upper end to entertain me when the music and voices stop. :eek:

And I did ride it over to Roseville Yamaha in the rain and mist. :blink: Nothing like the downpour or deluge to try the waterproofing as another "unnamed" member did. :blink:

Besides, I now have garage space (for 2 weeks) to repair the KLR...uhm...yes, the parts have arrived. :yahoo:

Asides, yuh be wantin me tuh start hopin fer rayne en tuh gits mah voodoo dolls en suchm er whut?
