Had a friend (passed on) who consistently harped on the joys of riding his vintage 72 Moto Guzzi EL DORADO down thru Central Mexico every year to Puerto Villarta.......Can't say his stories of $10 rooms, $5 whores, .10 joints and .25 tequila shots aren't permanently etched somewhere in the back of my brain, who's always taunting me to get my ass down there to check it out myself.....

If anybody has any stories I've missed (newbie), I'd love for you to tell em again....

I'm with ya! I'd love to do a trip to Cabo San Lucas via the mainland...

Oh, and before you smart-***** get all fired up, the water crossing is on a ferry boat. No dry-suit or deep ford kit required.

Heck, you're not even making it down to Puerto Villarta on that road trip of yours. Think I'd perfer to do a more mountainous interior trip like all the way down the coast to Acapulco and then cross over to Mexico City and then head back up the Mexican East Coast.........I hear the beer gets cheaper, the grass gets cheeper, and the girls get younger & cheeper the further south you go....

..........I hear the beer gets cheaper, the grass gets cheeper, and the girls get younger & cheeper the further south you go....
I hear the mexican jails get more "authentic" the further south you go....... :erm:

It sounds like the Mexico you want to see are called "border towns", and once you cross the border into one of those border towns every block south you go "the beer gets cheaper, the grass gets cheeper, and the girls get younger & cheeper".

Fortunately, Mexico ain't a thing like Ameica.......Nothing much down there is against the law......Hardly NO CRIME....Yea NO RAPE since prostitution is legal, every town has their whorehouse. Who'd need to rape anyone when you can and get a laid for $10?......The police don't spend every moment they're awake chasing kids cause there's no underage drinking problems either (No age limit)......No illegal drugs problems either.......you wanna guess why?

I call it the LAND OF THE TRUELY FREE! As they adhire to THE GOLDEN RULE....

He with the Gold RULES!!!!!

Just don't kill anyone and enjoy yourselfes....

Why do you think well over 1,000,000 Americans live down there...

So, I guess my pontoon suggestion is out of the question? :bleh:

$5 whores,
 $5.00 whore guard

And just think, you'll get to hear "El pene grande es tan minty!"

downn2 - Quite simply, feces speweth from your mouth, and you don't know WTF you are talking about. Once again, when supposedly trying to discuss riding a motorcycle to Mexico, you have turned this into another "I am an ugly american" thread.

For someone who apparently hasn't been to Mexico in quite a while, you sure seem to know a lot about it. The thing is, you demonstrate you really don't know anything about it.

Are you for real? Or are you just some 13 year old with too much time on your hands?

Oh, wait. I've got it......

TROLL!!!

Please, go away and spew your venom elsewhere.............

downn2,

A quick bit of research (read, "Google") got me the following information:

From the US State Dept:

CRIME: Crime in Mexico continues at high levels, and it is often violent, especially in Mexico City, Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, and the state of Sinaloa. Other metropolitan areas have lower, but still serious, levels of crime. Low apprehension and conviction rates of criminals contribute to the high crime rate.

The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, but it is not uniformly enforced.  Alcohol is implicated in the majority of arrests, violent crimes, accidents and deaths suffered by American tourists.
There have been a significant number of rapes reported in Cancun.  Many of these have occurred at night or in the early morning.  Attacks have also occurred on deserted beaches and in hotel rooms.  Acquaintance rape is a serious problem.  In other cases, hotel workers, taxi drivers, and even security personnel have been implicated.  Anyone who is a victim of a sexual assault or other crime should report it immediately to the nearest U.S. consular office and should endeavor to make a report to Mexican authorities.  Do not rely on hotel/restaurant/tour company management to make the report for you.

Vacationers at other beach resorts have encountered similar problems after accidents involving rented jet-skis.
There have been cases of mobs gathering to prevent tourists from departing the scene and to help intimidate them into paying exorbitant damage claims.

Google before you speak.

Ha! I have to travel from LA to Mexicali too often for work. So my tales are mostly depressing work stories <ugh!>. But I will say folks down there seem to drive like signs are just suggestions. Stop sign? Maybe it should just say "hesitate" or "slow down a little."

And the old joke about "whoever makes eye contact loses" isn't a joke, that's how right-of-way is lost...
