Lot's of announcements regarding WFO-5 here, so attendees should read this thread carefully.

Facilities: The Reno Hilton has made a change in our facility venue that impacts our ability to park indoors. There is an extremely large convention the very same weekend as our event, and they will be needing the room that only the Silver State Pavilion has, and even then, they will have to spill over to other Convention areas. This group is over 6X the size of our group :(

We have been working hard with the Sales Director to come up with a decent compromise, and we've reached an agreement: they will put us in what was the largest convention hall they had up until the Silver State Pavilion constructed: they will put us in the Nevada Conference Exhibit Center (commonly known as the "Nevada Room"). This is an extremely large facility itself, and will MORE than house all the WFO vendors and Yamaha USA displays.

However, since the Nevada Room is located more interior to guest rooms than the Pavilion was, Fire Code rules take effect.... the only way to bring the bikes indoors is to remove the fuel and disconnect the battery, which obviously isn't going to happen. Still and all, the Nevada Room is HUGE itself, and we will have considerable space for Yamaha USA displays, Vendor areas, and general socializing. The only real difference from the Silver State Pavilion is the inability to park indoors.

Parking: Since we don't have the indoor option anymore, I am working hard with the Reno Hilton to provide a reasonable alternative. Right now, we are considering two options: one shaded option, one non-shaded option. The shaded option is, of course, what I am pushing for, but this area isn't as close to the Nevada Room as I would like. The un-shaded option is fairly close to the Nevada Room, but faces a bit to the south and west, so it ought to be toasty in the late afternoon. In either case, I am working with the Reno Hilton to get them to provide 24-security for our bikes regardless of which parking area we end up with.

WFO-5 Track Day: Upon further investigation with the Reno-Fernley Speedway, we have elected to cancel the Track Day option. The amount of money we would have to put up for EMS Services, Liability Insurance, etc, etc quickly went stratospheric. We aren't going to go down this road.

WFO-5 Iron Butt Ride: So instead of coordinating the Track Day, IBR veteran and SPANK Rallymaster George (beeroux) Zelenz is hosting a SaddleSore 1000 for those who wish to earn their IBA membership (or anyone who wants to blaze 1000 miles in 24 hours! :)

George has a tasty 1000+ mile route plotted out for you, and since it is Nevada, you can bet that George will route you in areas where you can explore the performance envelope of your bike with relative safety from LEO encounters. It's fine to have fun when you're out alone in the Desert, but you need to behave yourself around any sparse cage traffic you might encounter. And do note that local police/county Sheriffs can be very unforgiving if you speed through their towns. Word.

WFO-5 Banquet tickets: Ignacio is very close to announcing the payment schedule for the two Banquets we are having the Reno Hilton cater for us. The Friday evening banquet will feature a classic Western BBQ theme; I'll let Iggy describe what he has going for the big finale banquet on Saturday. You are strongly encourage to purchase your banquet tickets before the event. However, we intend to have some banquet tickets available for sale during Check-In on Thursday, July 27.

WFO-5 Rallyshirts: The ABSOLUTE LAST DAY you can order a Rallyshirt is June 25. After that day, the order goes to the shirtmaker, and that's that. There will be NO orders accepted after that date. Also note that there will be none available for sale on-site until Saturday afternoon, when Lisa (IronMaiden) Stevens will sell off any shirts unclaimed from any no-shows to the event. It matters not what your ordered when your registered for the event; it only matters what you have PAID FOR via PayPal. If you haven't PayPal'ed your rallyshirt order in accordance with the WFO-5 web site instructions, don't expect to have a rallyshirt onsite, because it won't be there. At this late date, you MUST use PayPal; no checks/money orders are allowed.

PayPal your rallyshirt payments to: [email protected]

**NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!**

Remember, June 25 is the LAST DAY to PayPal your rallyshirt order. If you make a PayPal payment to us after that time, we will simply return the money to you via PayPal. Do note that when you PayPal, say, a $20 rallyshirt payment to us, we only receive $19.12, as PayPal takes out a .88 transaction fee. We will return that $19.12 to you via PayPal, and you will lose an additional $.88 from a second transaction fee. Let's not play that game.... PayPal your rallyshirt order BEFORE June 25. Those of you who try to slip in after June 25, we'll post your PayPal return receipt number here on the forum so everyone knows how clever you are. :p

Below is the rear rallyshirt artwork for WFO this year:

That's all for now... more information will follow as the event draws near.

So (just to be pedantic, because I can't follow directions) ;-)...

...if I paypal for a different number/sizes of shirts that I've entered on fjrtech signup, the number/sizes that I put on the paypal note will "win" (assuming I've paid correctly), right?

btw: Very nice shirt design, who do we have to thank for the artwork?

Thanks for the rally master update Warchild. I'm like a kid at Thanksgiving knowing Christmas is just a month away!!!

Nice new development about George handling a Saddle Sore. How would he say it? "I'm going to ride your *** off......sho' nuff"

And if the shirt maker can pull off the complex swooshes on the FJR we'll be set! Props to our homey, Brant Vondruska, for his wonderful graphic work. It's amazing what a DVD of good **** will do in buying off a guy that normally charges $70 an hor..... :D

And there are a couple of pieces of unfortunate news, but I'm not going to let them get me down. Yamaha being there will help make up for it in my mind.

A couple extra notes on the banquet. Working now with staff on final menu and pricing. Both will be buffet style, but as Warchild said Friday will be BBQ night with mesquite tri-tip as one of the entrees and homie pies and stuff for desert. Saturday will be a bit more elegant with salmon, chicken parmasean, and pork loin. I'm focusing on fresh, fresh, fresh.

Plan will be to have a discounted package price for the two meals or if one wants to do ala carte they'll be able to do that too.

Too bad about the parking, but Oh Well, not that big of a deal.

Sounds like a Hell of a lot of work being put in by you guy's. Thank's, I'm sure it's going to be GREAT !!!!!

I can not begin to adequately describe just how much work is involved in putting on one of these gigs.

Particularly one this size... we are currently up to 324 FJRs in attendance! This will be the largest gathering of FJRs anywhere in the world, and this is a prime reason why Yamaha USA is attending.

Myself and the WFO-5 Staff have sunk countless hours into this gig, and as you can imagine, the venue change threw a significant wrench into the works. We spent HOURS on the phone with them about this, and in fact, I took a day of vacation last month to ride down there and meet face-to-face with the head Sales Director to hammer out an agreement on our facilites.

Re: rallyshirt artwork: as Ignacio has said, we all owe Brant Vondruska a HUGE thank you for his artwork. This guy is a stunning Graphic Artist, and is a Contributing Editor to PhotoShop magazine. He has won international awards for his work.

He is also the artist behind the awesome header banner on the WFO-5 web site.....

Thanks for the updates Dale... can't wait! And thanks to you and all the staff for putting all of this together for us... should be one hell of a time!

Just curious, what's the other convention that's going on at the same time? We going to be roaming the halls with a bunch of older men in Fez's, or is it possibly the adult entertainment expo followup to the one in Las Vegas?

Which one are you hoping for, Groo?

I'm thinking that All of the Staff setting this thing up, shouldn't have to buy any drinks for the entire weekend. WE owe you guy's big time...

I was told it was the International **** Star Guild.... ;)

Exactly correct.

WarChild, I know you and your hardworking committee will make the best decisions for the WFO-5 and all of us attendees. It will be a great "Gig" just like Skagit, only bigger. That bigger audience will give me an opportunity to talk to more folks. Talking to new folks is my second love to riding!! Thanks for your assistance at the CA 24. You are a "force" also my friend.

Just to clarify for myself, is $20.00 before June 25th enough, or do we need to add a buck to make up for the hit from PayPal?

Big THANK YOU's to all involved :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: We can't wait!

I thought it was the International Convention for *** Addicts Anonymous: Hot Nymphos Recovering From a Weakness for Sport Touring Bikes and the Men Who Ride Them?

Nah, had that at my house last weekend. :dribble:

Curiously, it wasn't very well attended.

This is no biggie, cause I know they have lots going on and stuff, but someone might want to update the WFO website as it's still showing us in the Silver State Pavilion... Oh, and I added the event to the forum calendar... can't believe nobody did that before now...

Vacation in 34 days ... I've been waiting for this ! ! ! Open road and a company gas card ! ! !

WFO fee paid (X) Rally shirts paid (X)

Lets see, where's the sleeping bag... Camp stove... #1 coffee filters... air mattress... tire repair kit... Tent... Ground cover... LED flashlight... Box 'o Band Aids... We stay at hotels, but the camping gear is for JustInCase...

Gotta pay down the charge card...

Already got the Utah & Wyoming maps, Nevada map not here yet...

Graphical Artist?? haha! love it! haven't heard my chosen profession called that before! ;)

Thank you Warchild et al for your very hard work! I am in awe of your effort and dedication; awfully glad I chose the FJR!

Sad about the indoor thing, I was looking forward to finding out what burnt rubber and carpet smelled like  For my two cents worth, if the shaded option means a level or two of a covered parking garage then I'd vote for that. If not, then how about the hotel putting up large tent-tops to turn the un-shaded parking area into a shaded one? I think it'd look cool and draw attention (hmmm, better beef up the security!) :vinsent:
