Lot's of announcements regarding WFO-5 here, so attendees should read this thread carefully.
Facilities: The Reno Hilton has made a change in our facility venue that impacts our ability to park indoors. There is an extremely large convention the very same weekend as our event, and they will be needing the room that only the Silver State Pavilion has, and even then, they will have to spill over to other Convention areas. This group is over 6X the size of our group
We have been working hard with the Sales Director to come up with a decent compromise, and we've reached an agreement: they will put us in what was the largest convention hall they had up until the Silver State Pavilion constructed: they will put us in the Nevada Conference Exhibit Center (commonly known as the "Nevada Room"). This is an extremely large facility itself, and will MORE than house all the WFO vendors and Yamaha USA displays.
However, since the Nevada Room is located more interior to guest rooms than the Pavilion was, Fire Code rules take effect.... the only way to bring the bikes indoors is to remove the fuel and disconnect the battery, which obviously isn't going to happen. Still and all, the Nevada Room is HUGE itself, and we will have considerable space for Yamaha USA displays, Vendor areas, and general socializing. The only real difference from the Silver State Pavilion is the inability to park indoors.
Parking: Since we don't have the indoor option anymore, I am working hard with the Reno Hilton to provide a reasonable alternative. Right now, we are considering two options: one shaded option, one non-shaded option. The shaded option is, of course, what I am pushing for, but this area isn't as close to the Nevada Room as I would like. The un-shaded option is fairly close to the Nevada Room, but faces a bit to the south and west, so it ought to be toasty in the late afternoon. In either case, I am working with the Reno Hilton to get them to provide 24-security for our bikes regardless of which parking area we end up with.
WFO-5 Track Day: Upon further investigation with the Reno-Fernley Speedway, we have elected to cancel the Track Day option. The amount of money we would have to put up for EMS Services, Liability Insurance, etc, etc quickly went stratospheric. We aren't going to go down this road.
WFO-5 Iron Butt Ride: So instead of coordinating the Track Day, IBR veteran and SPANK Rallymaster George (beeroux) Zelenz is hosting a SaddleSore 1000 for those who wish to earn their IBA membership (or anyone who wants to blaze 1000 miles in 24 hours!
George has a tasty 1000+ mile route plotted out for you, and since it is Nevada, you can bet that George will route you in areas where you can explore the performance envelope of your bike with relative safety from LEO encounters. It's fine to have fun when you're out alone in the Desert, but you need to behave yourself around any sparse cage traffic you might encounter. And do note that local police/county Sheriffs can be very unforgiving if you speed through their towns. Word.
WFO-5 Banquet tickets: Ignacio is very close to announcing the payment schedule for the two Banquets we are having the Reno Hilton cater for us. The Friday evening banquet will feature a classic Western BBQ theme; I'll let Iggy describe what he has going for the big finale banquet on Saturday. You are strongly encourage to purchase your banquet tickets before the event. However, we intend to have some banquet tickets available for sale during Check-In on Thursday, July 27.
WFO-5 Rallyshirts: The ABSOLUTE LAST DAY you can order a Rallyshirt is June 25. After that day, the order goes to the shirtmaker, and that's that. There will be NO orders accepted after that date. Also note that there will be none available for sale on-site until Saturday afternoon, when Lisa (IronMaiden) Stevens will sell off any shirts unclaimed from any no-shows to the event. It matters not what your ordered when your registered for the event; it only matters what you have PAID FOR via PayPal. If you haven't PayPal'ed your rallyshirt order in accordance with the WFO-5 web site instructions, don't expect to have a rallyshirt onsite, because it won't be there. At this late date, you MUST use PayPal; no checks/money orders are allowed.
PayPal your rallyshirt payments to: [email protected]
**NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!** **NOTE!**
Remember, June 25 is the LAST DAY to PayPal your rallyshirt order. If you make a PayPal payment to us after that time, we will simply return the money to you via PayPal. Do note that when you PayPal, say, a $20 rallyshirt payment to us, we only receive $19.12, as PayPal takes out a .88 transaction fee. We will return that $19.12 to you via PayPal, and you will lose an additional $.88 from a second transaction fee. Let's not play that game.... PayPal your rallyshirt order BEFORE June 25. Those of you who try to slip in after June 25, we'll post your PayPal return receipt number here on the forum so everyone knows how clever you are.

That's all for now... more information will follow as the event draws near.
