Try cycling the key several times on and off to see if it clears.

Good luck

Dave

Almost certainly your rear brake lever is binding. Been there, done that, see here.

Code 47 shouldn't prevent the bike from starting or shifting.

"Braking signal is not detected by the electric shift system when braking".
That's what the manual says, but my experience was that the bike continued to behave normally until I parked it and turned the ignition off. I'd put it into neutral, and could re-start it, but it would not change into 1st gear. Steved1 had stopped his in gear, it refused to start.

Neither of these agree with the manual.

I don't even understand the code description, how does it know it's braking if it's not receiving a braking signal? It might mean the bike isn't slowing when the brake light is on, but it doesn't complain with gentle braking downhill with the speed increasing.

Maybe something to do with the translation from Japanese into English, but that doesn't explain why it won't change into gear and/or won't start.

From manual:

It may be as simple as the Electric Shift controller never sees the brake input change state -- the brake signal is always on. If the pedal is held down continuously from too much friction the brake light signal never goes away. The ABS controller probably doesn't like that "always braking" signal either. Although the ABS controller is a bit more sophisticated. It monitors the brake light signal, the lever switch, and the pedal switch. The Electric Shift controller monitors only the brake lights and not what the switches are doing.

When I bought my FJR I didn't buy an ABS because of its additional complexity and hardware. I would shudder to buy an AE with its complexity squared. When it's working OK it's great. But you'd need to be an engineer to feel comfortable with all that additional complexity. Fortunately I'm trained as an engineer but I still stayed away.

Yes it will cause the computer sees a problem and it lights up the shift warning and you cannot shift the bike been electronic clutch so if you shut it off you are done.

My iphone and this forum saved me this morning. I couldn't start my AE this morning so i did a quick search for the SH_ _47 the dash was showing. Thanks guys!
