Some of you may know me from other forums. My username Reserector is a contraction of resurrector and erector. I love to restore old things and give them a new spirit. Some of my builds are fabrications that repurpose old materials. My new FJR rack/oem trunk mount combination for example.

I also restored my 1993 Caravelle 1750 ski boat (that was given to me to haul off and scrap.) and scratch built a slide-in camper using the guts and hardware from a rotting one that I picked up cheap.

Before I bought my 2003 FJR1300 for Father's Day in '22, I was riding a 2003 YZF600R and a 2008 Suzuki DRZ400S. I used to commute on the YZF, and in four years I had added over 90,000 miles to the 28K used bike. I have passed that gem on to my youngest son. I still ride the DRZ.

I'm 61 years old, and started riding at 4 yrs old on a mini-bike. I've seen more trail than Davey Crocket. I was a B-Class enduro rider on the east coast in the 80s and 90s.

I'm looking forward to getting to know those of you whom I have not already met online.

I am no stranger to forums and operate a handful of my own, including YZF600R.com It has been around for decades and was slowing down and in need of attention. It was operating on phpBB2. The site went down and I happened to have a copy of it. When others failed and flaked, I used my copy to migrate it to MYBB and salvage it that way. So there that is.

I'm a Design Engineer by trade. I currently design garbage trucks. However, I have background in many other trades leading up to where I am now.

Beautiful bike... do you ride?
Looking back, my question seems rude... let me rephrase. That's a beautiful FJR, but you mention riding trails. Do you do long rides on the FJR? I'm in NOLA, and have a few friends that like to rack up miles, and are always on the lookout for like-minded riders.

I've always said "There are riders and there are riders. I'm a rider." You can quote me on that. ;)

I love long trips that include tent camping along the way. It's been some of the best "me time" I've ever had. I haven't done any multi-day rides with others, though.
That said, I will be headed to the Ozarks to meet a small group of FJR guys on Oct 5th. That will be a hotel stay, but I will camp on the way up and on the way back.

Photo for effect. Hungry Mother State Park in VA on my way to NJ from MS. Never knew how close I was to the Back of the Dragon. 😔

I was traveling on the YZF600R. Here I am on my way from MS to NJ to visit my mother back when she was still alive.

Exploring. This is why I got a DRZ. LOL

Me too! The vast majority of my trips are solo, although I had a friend join me for a TransLab Hwy run last year. Moto camping can be most enjoyable, although takes time if the main object is to get somewhere. In the past year, I have done more trips that involve camping on my BMW F700GS (2017) although the 2011 FJR still sees lots of saddle time.

Welcome from Eastern Canada.
