New FJR member - Studying to be a FJR owner

Hi Everyone, I am a Honda CBX owner looking for a FJR1300 as a daily cruise. If anyone has experience or a connection buying a bike and having it delivered I
would like to hear from you. Recent hernia surgery is keeping me from long distance trips right now.
I have made inquiries to FJR sellers, but they don't answer if they still have the bike or not.
Maybe they are jaded from being spammed to death.
Thanks for any insight about this issue.
PS - CBX parts are getting hard to find and I'm trying to preserve the bike. I am really hooked on the FJR1300.

What year(s) of FJR are you considering? Considerable differences between Gen I (before 2006), Gen II (2006-2012), Gen III (2013-2015) and Gen IV (2016+). Look at the FJR Model Comparison Matrix for details.

I see a 2015 FJR1300a and a pristine 2008 FJR; sellers don't reply to e-mail to contact them. Really Looking for one with less than 30,000 miles and has been maintained. Both sellers have maintenance records.
So, probably years 2008 and up. Any recommendations on hiring delivery service? Thanks for reaching out to me.

I would go for a 2015 over the 2008.
Can't help you with delivery service recommendations in your market. Personally. I would consider a "fly and ride" if both ends of the transaction are in regions with suitable weather conditions. I bought my 2011 from a guy 3,400 miles away, although it was in May.
Have you looked at Cycle Trader?

I agree with a 2015. I have tried to contact sellers on Cycle Trader...no reply. Same for Facebook marketplace.
I may have to work with a dealer that delivers and has checked out the bike by a technician.
I had hernia surgery recently, so I can't fly out and ride back just yet.

I have a '13 FJR A model for sale in '15 colors, and a '17 FJR ES for sale. You buy one and I'll ride it out to you and fly home! They are both on FB Marketplace but most likely easier to find with a Phoenix, AZ Craigslist search.

Ozzie,

You should have a trusted FJR rider check out the bike at the far end before you buy. Buying sight unseen is fairly risky anyway. Ideally they should check for OBD codes, tire ages, and any factory recalls. Call the Yamaha mothership with the VIN for recall info: 1-800-962-7926

I used Federal Motorcycle Transport about a decade ago for my 2008, and they were great! Door-to-door service, lift gate truck, one bike on large pallet, not a scratch.

1200 miles, and cheaper than a one-way plane ticket. They did everything, and it came in a big-box truck. Good updates daily by email & text. Now all of this happened maybe ten years back, but I'd call them today if needed. Call for a quote, and scheduling.

O, You must tend towards the 'dark side' since they are basically black in both years...

Get the 2015 since gen3 has tons of upgrades (look at the grid) AND the last of the 5 speed trannys! I loved my 2013, and now on a 2014a.

Just my two cents... I own an 06 A and love it. BUT I wish it had Cruise Control; I use the throttle lock, pictured. I added heated grips; IMHO they are a necessity here in New England. Good luck.
PS I was ghosted by Cycle Trader sellers too.

Personally, I'd wait a week or so. I healed up from my Hernia surgery pretty quickly - of course I may have not paid much attention the what the Dr advised (which isn't always advisable).
We like taking another bike 2-up to get the bikes we buy. In my case, my brothers are always up for a ride. In your case, maybe a buddy, but that is a cheep way of getting her home. That is if the bike isn't cross country - that might be a little too much.

You asked about having a bike delivered. I have done that. I bought a bike on ebay, and used one of the delivery services that ebay suggested. I had communicated with the seller before bidding, so I trusted him. It took a week longer than promised, but they delivered the bike without a scratch. Your mileage may vary.
Good on you for hanging on to that CBX.

Thanks Mozey. I hear that EBay makes sure sellers foolow through on their tranactions or they booted off Ebay platform. Have you had any experience with hiring an inspector to look at a bike you are trying to buy long distance?

I had purchased a 2009 several years ago. I bought it on eBay. They offered the delivery service as well as a $50,000 guarantee so I figured it to win-win no matter what it showed up in my office in the back of an 18 wheeler that must’ve had 50 or 60 bikes inside the trailer. I wish I asked the guy who would just give me the keys. He said no go but he rolled my bike back. Dropped it off on the sidewalk. Everything was absolutely perfect. I did a second time off of Ebay with a Valkyrie that was a non-runner took three of us pushing this huge monster across the street into my driveway but again Not an issue and again the guarantee you can’t beat Ebay yes Ebay

You're gonna love your FJRocket!

I had a 2006 Gen II and now own a 2014 Gen III. Both are wonderful motorcycles - excellent performers, low maintenance, and reliable as an anvil. That said, I definitely recommend the Gen III over the Gen II for improved fueling, heated grips, cruise control, throttle modes, and a superior electronic information suite. Both of my bikes were standard suspension, so can't speak to the Electronic Suspension on the Gen III.

This is an amazing and versatile machine. One-up I have no problem keeping up with the boys - great power and handles like a bike half it's weight. Two-up my wife and I have twice ridden coast-to-coast, do a 3000-5000 mile trip about once a year, and use it to enjoy our north-Georgia twisties on day trips. It's as close to a "perfect" motorcycle" as you can get.

Want a complaint? It eats tires. But i've been told that might be my fault.
