Corbin Smuggler on Raven Black '08

One more thing I need to buy now. Looks great. Where did you get the plugs that cover the side bag mounts? Come with the bike? Aftermarket?

    Top heavy?

They had burger on sale ($2.59/ lb for 93%lean) so I bought 50 lbs. Put the burger in the top trunk with my other gear. A little top heavy.

    Rostra CC Installation

I have the vacuum style on my FJ1200 and I like it but you can't buy them anymore. I wish the Rostra had an either/ or for tach signal and/ or VSS. The manual says the tach signal is for safety only and won't control the speed. Maybe I will switch to the cam sensor. Anyone know the wire color I...

    Rostra CC Installation

I thought I read somewhere that the Rostra could be adjusted for the FJR without adding anything. Did you try it on the speed sensor then move to the cam sensor? Thanks for the info on the windshield switch. I might be gutting a stock one and making what I want. I want it to look as OEM as I can.

    Rostra CC Installation

I'm working on the same CC unit. What wire did you use for the speed sensor? The speed sensor has three wires, two of them connect with other wires and there is a third wire that goes to the CPU only (according to the factory service manual). I'm assuming that is the one? I'm also going to look...

Downshifting - is the manual correct?

I guess my point was that if you listen and feel what the bike is doing and what feels wrong, most all components will last much longer.

    possible head gasket failure

I'm with you. If head gasket goes, you have pressure inside your overflow tank, loose coolant, then run the motor without coolant. No water pump turning makes temp sensor go to hot quickly. Unless motor had overheated in the past, your head gasket doesn't just fail (unless it is a Harley).

Downshifting - is the manual correct?

Rode my FJ1200 for 180,000 miles and NEVER had it apart (checked valve adjustment 2 times) and never had the 2nd gear will be junk by 20,000 miles problem. If the shift feels good, keep doing it. If you miss a shift or doesn't want to go in, stop doing that. If you miss a shift and you don't...

    Delinking brakes on an '08

Cavy, I plan to do that this winter. I have a 2009 AE (bought new this summer) and I'm old school I guess. I have 182,000 miles on my 1993 FJ1200 and still have the original rear pads in it. When I use my front brakes, only one set of pistons have pressure on them and my brake pads are going to...

    FJR AE Clutch Disengage Issues

I've read several threads about stopping in 3rd gear ect to aid in the clutch disengage rpm problem. I had the same problem where I would be coming to a stop and the brakes would pull the rpms down to about 900 rpm and then the clutch would disengage. A little about my background is I built...
