SW-MOTECH rack and Givi case install with pic's!!

Smitty, your bag really doesn't move at all? I just installed mine today, and it is anything but secure. If I poke at it it wobbles around. Im really disappointed in the rack so far. I can't think of what I could have done wrong since the install is pretty straight forward. Any ideas???

Anyone have SW-MOTECH rack and Givi case?

Cool. Looking forward to hear about it. Are you planning to use the lights on the Givi?

Anyone have SW-MOTECH rack and Givi case?

Was looking to get one of these They provide an "adapter plate" that mounts to it, and then the Givi case locks onto that. The adapter plate can be removed in a few seconds so that's nice. My question is does it support the Givi tail light setup? Hoping someone had one and could snap a...

    FJR Hot weather riding gear

Hi Jeff. Have you tried that Cooler? They claim it will work for five days on a single "charge". Any personal experience with it?

    Rear Suspension

The Penske does not have a remote adjuster for ride height or pre-load. But both can be changed. Independant of each other. I can't remember the spring I got on mine. I would have to check on that. I think it might be on the shock chart that came with the shock.

    Rear Suspension

I can take a picture of the Soqi valves that came out of my FJR forks if you don't believe Lee. :) I have the Penske on my FJR. It's sweet. Also has separate ride height adjust on it.

    Back to suspension issues

Yes, sportryder is in fact Lee from Traxxion. While Lee hasn't done anything with HIS bike...I am pretty sure they have installed an AK20 setup in another customers bike. Lee is good people! I've ridden with him, and he took me on a tour of Traxxion last year.

    Back to suspension issues

Yah Lee, it's me. :D BTW - What's your take on RT saying they can install different valving in the OEM shock?? That's certainly news to me. Dave, the gal you spoke to at Aftershocks likely knew her stuff. I've talked to her before as well. She went right to Phil to ask what the cost was when...

    Back to suspension issues

Yes, the shock was installed and I hit the road and put 1700 miles on it in 4 days. It was an enormous improvement. Getting the rear to ride where it's supposed to now made all the difference. The bike now sits considerably higher off the ground, it also just dances though corners, and is...

    VG2 won't sniff a V1. Plenty of tests have shown this. :) Here's just one. https://www.speedzones.com/radarDD.html

Lessons Learned while lubing shaft splines..

I pulled my wheels off my 05 a couple weeks ago and checked the splines for lube since I'd read some had been dry. Mine were definitly not dry, and appeared to have about the same amount as Aaron's photos showed. I wiped them off and reapplied some of that Honda moly that WC mentioned. Also...

    TFI vs Dynojet

Thanks for the reference. How long would you say the install takes? Is it pretty "dummy proof?"

    New Owner, couple questions

I don't recall what the parts costs were. There was oil too. I think RT springs are in the $100 range, but i didn't get new springs . He just clipped a coil or so off the stockers.

    New Owner, couple questions

I had my forks done by a guy named Curtis Pell who owns/is California Suspension Works in Palo Alto. He is also an FJR owner. And no, none of the Penske's have a "remote" preload adjuster. However, they do have a preload adjuster and they can be adjusted for ride height as well. Though I do...

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

the FJR tupperware up front doesn't expose the header pipes. Actually, it does. Gotta get down on your hands and knees and then you'll see the pipes protrude a good 3/4" below the plastic. At least on my 05 it does. The front of the lift touches nothing but the steel headers. :)

    OEM Shock

Don't discount Penske either. A chunk of change less than Ohlins, and built one at a time to your needs. The 8981 is around $725, has a remote resevoir (non-emulsion shock) and full adjusters.

    New Owner, couple questions

BlackB12, as DD said, you'll never be able to set the sag right on the bike with the stock springs. And as you may well already know, if you can't get that set right, messing with everything else won't fix anything. I am currently 1/2 way to a full upgrade on my 05. I just had the forks...

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

Took a bit longer to reinstall the forks and wheel. I'd say 40 minutes. Always takes longer to get stuff back in the right order. dgfella, there's no real "attach point" on the front. The header simply rests on the front plate. Over all the weight is distrubuted between the shock lingage, the...

    TFI vs Dynojet

Is there a "pre-made" setting for the FJR? Or do I have to dick with it for awhile to get it right??? Oh yah, and when you say "tap into" the wires...exactly what is done there? And are those wires easy to get to? Thanks!
