I have the same issue. I repainted my bags, due to drop scuffs. It doesnt appear to me that adhesive was used to attach these originally. Maybe im wrong but they appear to be male/female fit contours. The hardbag side, male; the protector side, female. That being said ive had no luck pressing...

I'm 5'4", on a good day. Lowered mine front and back, added handlebar risers and had the seat shaved. Fits much better and I can feel no difference in handling. I do agree with others on the side-stand dilemma... just be careful how and where you park.
