    FJR Rental in the UK

Hey guys, I just phoned Raceways for you. They have a branch in West London near Heathrow Airport, so a short taxi ride or underground journey off the airplane. The £395 per week includes insurance and breakdown cover for the UK but you would have to pay extra for European cover. The good news...

Caught in a sandstorm. Need your advice.

There ought to be a product you can get to polish the plastics. I recently hired a motorhome here in the UK and managed to scratch the nearside, plastic, window on a low-hanging tree. It just so happened that there was a motorhome and caravan dealer 3 miles from where I was staying. They sold...

BT-021, Hungry for twisties? These tires are Yummy

I'm interested in all the discussions here as I'm looking for a replacement for my Metzeler Z6's. My opinion of the the current tyres is that they are better than the Z4's they replaced (not hard). Wear is fine - 6000 miles and still going. Grip is fine - plenty of confidence in the wet (I am in...

    Moto GP vs WSB

By my calculations, the average lap time at Losail for Casey Stoner was 1'57.4". For Max Biaggi on the GSXR 1000 it was 2'00.9", so approx 3.5 seconds per lap, or about as fast as an Ilmor..... :)

Proper term to describe a resident of the UK

The proper way to describe a typical person living in the UK is "Immigrant" as we seem to have the best social security policy and the least number of forms to fill in to get it.... All kidding aside, most people living in England that were born and brought up here will tell you they...

Down Force from over size windshield

Hey racer, what you describe makes sense because you are changing the centre of pressure in relation to the centre of gravity, by raising the screen compared to it being flat. A 4" higher screen raised up is acting as a sail in the wind. Great for protection, less so for handling. Being tallet...

    Starcom 1 Advance or Autocom

I have an older Autocom Pro-M1 and have spent 5 years trying to get it working well. Boy do I have patience.... Have given up on the helmet speakers, which I could never get positioned properly to hear much without pain after 1 hour. Maybe it's because I have big ears (Why are you...

    Nolan N-Com System

Questions, Comments, and Just plain wise crack remarks are welcomed. Thanks Keone Keone, I looked at using the Nolan helmets with bluetooth, and also the Dainese helmet with BT. IMHO the Nolan looked a bit cheap to me, whereas the Dainese was much better quality. Sound quality was good too...

    oxford heated grips

They heat up fine, although left hand is cooler than right hand, because it is directly mounted to the handlebar. Yes you will need spacers. What I did was glue the grips upto the controls and put an extra peice of rubber(from the old grips) at the bar end end. Noddy.

Tank bags that don't hit the bars when fully locked.

Hey Sky, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Baglux kit. 'spensive admittedly compared to $27 tankbags but superb quality. I have used them for 9 years now on 4 different bikes. Here's the listing for FJR1300 '03/04:- https://www.bagster.com/en/moto/catalogue-m...hp?id_moto=3858 You can check...

Autocom AVI Pro Install - Cell Phone interference

Is anyone successfully using a cell phone with one of these units? Any insights you may have would be appreciated. Weekender I am using my mobile phone which is wired into the phone skt on my Pro-M1. The phone is under the seat next to the Autocom unit, not connected to power in order to...

    Recommended Petroleum/Synthetic Oils

I did a manual search and my conclusion is to use what the manual says. Or what the Yamaha dealer sells you. Why anybody suddenly thinks they are expert at oils when the maker does all the testing beats me. Last word - don't use car oil, ever. The extra lube makes the clutch slip.
