    2018 EOM room share thread

I really regret the bail, and especially all the circumstances that led to it. Someone share Joe's room! The cigar smoke isn't really that bad.

The FJReady tire balancer is what I use...any stock available for jrr, or do we send him to Marc Parnes? https://www.marcparnes.com/

108 is ablaze, and Dardanelle Resort is toast.

Bummer! Donnell Fire fire on Sonora Pass is over 20K acres. If only California had a viable forestry industry and the USFS could use timber harvests and mechanical removals and prescribed burns to control fuels rather than the full preservation strategy of the past 20 years. (Former Louisiana...

    Wiring Auxiliary Lights

The only circuits I have added to my battery terminals are the Fuzebox and my Clearwater Krista lights. It only takes one ring terminal, and the terminal wires are soldered and shrink-wrapped out of sight. I think you're going through a lot here to accomplish relatively little advantage. The...

    Hot ride around Lake Michigan

I wanted to return from South Dakota via the UP, but everything was booked for July 2. Looks like you fared pretty well in spite of the heat. Great trip report.

Black hills roundup I I thanks and home safe thread

Late check-in, but returned with El Toro Joe across the flat, straight and boring plains, and I have the bugs to prove it. 3684 for the trip. My first completed goal on arriving home was to jump in the pool. Even it was hot at 87 degrees!

    garmin lighter plug

It's useful to try more than one device to see if there is power in the outlet. My preference is to hard-wire to a fused connection. Cigarette outlets are a terribly unreliable power source in a high vibration environment. Better connectors are SAE, coax, and just plain wire with a fuse on the...

    New tires

You realize that is big-time NEPRT fodder, right? The PR 4 tires are great. You will love them. Last a bit longer than average, and roll true. The front is better than the PR 2 or 3, but does eventually get a weird shape if you do much twisty roads. Pressure 40/42 F/R.

    Black Hills Roundup Tires

this is a great offer, but I just mounted a new one using my modified HF tire machine. Glad to see this option will be available to those needing it.

What did you do to your FJR today?

I just got done removing a moderately worn PR4 rear tire and put on a new PR2 for the trip to Spearfish. It's 90 degrees out, so the tires go on and off pretty easy, but I'm drenched. I need to balance the wheel and reinstall, but am taking a break in the pool first.

    Dedicated GPS vs Cell Phone

I want to add something to Sapest's post Lots of good information in this post, but I'm going to add one more. Newer Zumo and Nuvi GPS have hidden system folders and you can't find the maps and other important stuff if you want to create a backup. The newer units are shipped with the drive...

    Dedicated GPS vs Cell Phone

I have been using the Zumo 590 for a long time. I recently went from an Autocom to the Sena 20S and have experimented with using the phone or the GPS. I have found that provided the GPS is configured correctly, the functions are easier to access and I don't give up sound quality. The first...

Bugnatr - dCarver central Kali RR - Day 1

Checking DOT.CA.GOV it looks like the passes are open except Lassen and Yosemite. Who is going to be first on Sonora and Ebbetts?
