    2011 Utah 1088 (12 hour, 1 day, 3 day)

From the rally application: "All riders in each of the events will be strongly encouraged to use Spot units for your safety and the rallymaster’s peace of mind. For those of you that are new to MERA events, when we say strongly encouraged we mean we will be offering big points for you to do...

    Winter Maintenance

If your thinking about adding Dave's PAIR covers, they're much easier to do with the valve cover off.

What Would You Do in Boston?

Boston has great food to be sure but if you want to taste the eighth wonder of the world, drive across the border to Hudson New Hampshire and have a cheesesteak at Bill Cahill's Super Subs. Driving the Feej and even sex will never be the same for you :dribble:

Western States Loop--Id Mt Wy Ut

Great write up Spud. As I mentioned to Greb in a PM, we were on 35 as well on Sunday ('06 w/yellow jacket and a Shadow 1100). We saw the guy on the KLR but he was up and walking and folks were there to help so we didn't stop. Next we ran into these: We must have just missed the CBR crash...

    Adventures with the mini mate

I'm curious, your sig says Queensbury, NY (I have some friends who live there - nice place) but it looks like your plates are VT (as is your login). Do you split time between the two? BTW - the Balschunats are two of the nicest people on the planet if you ever run into them. Great report. I'm...

More Certs From IBA ~ Mike

When did you submit your paperwork (or receive an email)? I've been watching the mailbox for a while now for an SS1k/BB1500... Congratulations. That's awesome on any machine.

Here it be (Man, did my helmet ever look like that?).

    Weekend Ride

Out of Moab you should consider following the Colorado River on 128. If you're continuing after Jackson on up to Yellowstone then head out the northeast entrance and ride the Beartooth to Red Lodge, MT. It was just repaved  Don't forget to take the Chief Joseph Byway turnoff for...

    Merritt pkwy vs I95

Absolutely. Traffic is going to suck no matter what route you choose but I'd take the Merritt/Wilbur Cross over I-95 anytime. If by some miracle the Merritt isn't bumper to bumper it can be quite a nice ride. Have a good trip.

An Irishman and a Mormon go onto a plane...

If you take just one, he'll drink all your beer and smoke all your cigarettes. You gotta bring at least two.

An Irishman and a Mormon go onto a plane...

Hmmm... I thought sure I was at ground zero. You know why you never take just one Mormon camping with you, don't ya?

    The Friday Martini

If I've been a good little FJR driver I like to reward myself with something from Patron they call "XO Cafe." It's out of this world. After that's down and the engine's up to operating temperature I'm on to the Bombay as well (I've never been good enough for the Sapphire). Or, in the spirit...

    Beartooth 2010 - 4 Days of fun!

Man oh man, JP that is some awesome footage. I was feeling bad 'cause I thought I missed your Bear Lake adventure when I rode back to Ohio to visit my Mom and Sister. I now see that you've rescheduled. Let me see if I can shuffle a few things and perhaps join you for at least part of that...

    Brake Bleeding Tips

SUCCESS! If anyone's interested, here's the procedure I came up with: I pulled the suspect caliper and put some shims in between the pads to simulate the rotor. Then I bungied the lever to get the bubbles small and reduce surface tension. With the caliper in hand and while rotating and...

    Milestones

I noticed that on my ride to Ohio a few weeks ago (sorry I couldn't fit in a visit - I think you were at CFR anyway). At least a dozen times birds were within inches of getting smacked. I've made the trip several times and never noticed that before. This time it almost seemed like a game for...

    Brake Bleeding Tips

Mine's one of the low end plastic versions. I don't see a positive pressure port. Probably have to shell out some more quatloos for a fancy gizmo that I'll use exactly once in my life. Damn, it sure is frustrating.

    Brake Bleeding Tips

Huh. That sounds like a smart way to go since you'd expect bubbles to want to go up more than down. Any idea what kind of pump can do this (and survive exposure to brake fluid)?

    Brake Bleeding Tips

Now that's an interesting idea. Suck and blow at the same time. How can that not be fun? How can today NOT be Friday? You betcha. Hit the ceiling the first time I tried it. Thanks!
