    Possible stator woes!!!!!!!

Jeez, I don't see what the big deal is. Put a piece of black tape over the volt meter and just ride on.

Good article on Gas, octane, and Ethanol

Jestal, let me hijack this thread sideways and ask you your opinion on the acetone "craze" making the rounds of the Internet. I've a couple of friends who swear it's increased fuel economy significantly. I think it's baloney.

Good article on Gas, octane, and Ethanol

How do you explain Brazil, if the stuff is so lousy? I don't know if it is bad or not, not having used any that I know of, but Brazil, hey, they're eat up with ethanol as fuel.

How about a saftey tip from each member?

Keep three seconds between you and whoever you're following...not two, three, especially in a group ride. And in a group ride, don't ride "the stagger", move to the verge when oncoming traffic approaches, towards the center line when there is no oncoming traffic. Ride like this all the time...

    VFR800

Dumbest thing I ever did was sell my VFR. But wait until September, after Honda announces its new models...worst thing that happens is they DO come out with the nucular powered one, and then you get to decide between getting that or picking up a used one as the bottom falls out of that market...

    Better Sound Report

Well, as I indicated in my original post, I'm using Etymotic ER4P earphones, which are allegedly a step above the 6 series...and even if not, they're very efficient. Aside from the overall lack of good sound...thin highs, thinner lows, at volumes sufficient to listen while riding, the...

    Butt-burn!!

If by butt-burn you mean the dread monkey-butt, rather than a sore hiny from a hard seat, and you need new riding gear anyway, consider the Rukka brand of riding gear. My mesh suit has a built-in sort of aerated area on the seat, which, well, keeps my butt dry in the heat. I never get monkey...

    06 throttle response

Well, lemmeaxe you a quexion: why haven't you tried the Fred Wire Thing? That's the only thing I've done to try to fix the problem. It made enough difference that I stopped there. My VFR had this same issue, though not quite as exciting as the FJR. I solved the problem on the VFR by simply...

    Better Sound Report

Yes, I was comparing apples to apples...pulling the Autocom out of the "line" drastically imroved sound quality, with either amp, or even with no amp. My post was really intended to point folks towards the Simpl amp, rather than complain about the Autocom.

    Better Sound Report

I've been disappointed in the sound I get through my Autocom system, using an ipod or XM. Sound is quite tinny compared to the same setup on the Goldwing, no surprise. I bought a tiny little amp called the Ampli-Rider, which has the great advantage of a wired volume control which I ran out to...

    Free synthetic oil after rebates

Go to www.slickdeals.com and look at deals for today's date, and follow the directions. Shoot, for free, even I'll use synthetic. EDIT: on closer inspection this may only work at a Pep in Cicero, IL, but look it over, mebbe the rebates will work, get the price down.

    Helmet speakers?

Been using those Etymotic ER4P earphones for about a week now. Come with several different sizes and types of plug. I don't like the rubber ones...like shooter's plugs...but the foam fit perfectly and are alleged to give a 40+db noise isolation...better than most earplugs, certainly better...

    Helmet speakers?

I didn't like the Autocom sound, went with custom molded earphones from The Earplug Super Store, lots better, did the mold impressions at home (hilarious husband/wife episode), was quite happy with the sound and the sound isolation, but after about 8 months one driver went out, replaced it, then...

    For those wanting 20W40 oil

I've never used the particular motor oil. I have used some of their industrial products and found them to be excellent for the specific applications. It's very expensive. I have no intention of buying any, I just use 10W40, regular motor oil, but I noticed this stuff, and thought I'd post it...

    Autocom part number?

+1 two times for the Electrical Connection ground loop isolator. I've got it between all the electronics and the Autocom, took all the noise out...I've got a new generation Auto on the FJR. I've had NO success with Autocom USA tech support, over more than two years. Finally wrote the...

    Heat Resistant Wire Loom

It appears the asphalt loom is old school...works fine, but I can't think why the high temp corrugated split plastic loom won't do the job, and easier. The asphalt stuff seems to be popular for car restorations. But, if you want it, here's plenty. I found another site a couple of weeks ago...

    Autocom-

I've had Autocoms for a couple of years. The system mutes the music or other sound source when one or the other speaks. My wife and I both find it annoying, as it mutes, and takes several seconds to come back. We've got it turned off, and just either speak over the music or mute it manually.

    Engine sound through headphones

Update on the noise issue. Took the advice regarding the glove box power outlet being noisy, and installed an aux one wired into the fused power block. Same amount of noise. It's either the nature of the connection (doesn't compute, I never have this problem in my car) or my wiring, or magic...

    Airflow adjustment on the 06

I think it made a big difference. It takes about 1 minute to move them either way, probably the best way is to try both ways and stick with what works for you. All you need is a screwdriver. BALONEY!!! It takes one minute to move them out, yes. But then you have to spend half an hour on the...
