how do y'all get so many....

My tailbone's busted. All I can do is vicarious motorcycling. Well, that, and I'm not exactly retired, but I have lots of time to goof off.

Instant MPG readout recall...euro forum reports...

Not according to the posts on the Euro site. Apparently there was a simple software error, it should have had a maximum of 99.9 mpg. But again, is there really any reason to go to the bother of getting this fixed? Some on the Euro forum suggested Yama orta offer the option of a couple hundred...

Instant MPG readout recall...euro forum reports...

...that Yama is starting a recall program...has to replace the entire instrument cluster...all your mileage readings will go back to zero. Let's see, make an appointment, spend an hour getting to the dealer, leave the bike for a minimum of one, more likely two, days, spend another hour getting...

    Bad day for me...06 down

Yup, call your insurance company. Ask point blank what will happen to your premium (if you're paranoid, don't give them your name the first call). Then you can make up your mind. My bike er, uh, fell over all by itself, no, that's not right, my dachshund knocked it over, two weeks ago and...

    Glove Box: Undocumented Feature

I see posts regularly on this site where owners can't get into their glove boxes due to electrical problems, etc. Take your key and put it in your pocket. Place both thumbs on the opening "button", near the two ends and press down, pretty hard. The lid will pop open. My dealer showed me this...

To file a claim or not file a claim

I called Dairyland today to see what would happen if I file a claim on my tipover. It is classified as a comprehensive coverage claim. I filed the claim, they'll go look, and give me an estimate...standard deal, they're willing to use my body shop choice...actually they don't care, they'll do...

How to find factory paint code, '06?

I can never forgive you. Actually, you were right, as shown in the edited original post. Yama will not release the paint code. You have to go through Color-Rite.

How to find factory paint code, '06?

I need the factory, not Color-Rite, paint code for my '06. I was surprised to note it's not under the seat on a sticker. Can anyone help? Thanks. EDIT: YAMAHA WILL NOT RELEASE THEIR CODE. THEY REFER YOU TO THE COLOR-RITE WEB SITE. THE CODE ON THE COLOR-RITE SITE IS PROPRIETARY, AND CANNOT...

"Wild Bill" Highway Pegs Review for '06

NOTE: THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE ONLY. YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY GREATLY. THIS IS NOT A DIATRIBE. IT IS A REPORT OF MY EXPERIENCE ONLY. I installed a set of these highway pegs last Saturday night, and Sunday did a couple hundred miles. The installation went smoothly enough, very intuitive and...

To file a claim or not file a claim

My bike also fell over. Like you, I dunno what happened. Damage was almost identical. Body shop estimate is just under $600 to make it look like new. I have $100 deductible comprehensive insurance, so filing a claim gets me $500. Yes, my insurance premium may go up, but it's not going to go...

    Insurance: Good Grief!

Same liability coverage, $100 deductible, no bodily injury or uninsured coverage, only other difference is Travis County: $388 for the 2003 Gl1800, $473 for the Yamaha. I'm quite surprised your Yamaha coverage is less than your Goldwing. Perhaps your Goldwing is new, too? I'd not heard of...

    '06 Magnum blaster installation

My plan to buy a house next door to Fred is moving a little slowly. This is more than I'm capable of taking on. Well, I could do it, but it would end up half-hiny and no fun. Anyone in the Austin area who could/would, do this install for me? I'd pay, of course. I think there's probably...

385 miles on '06 today - some interesting observations

Interesting comments. I was finally able to get out and run the bike a couple hundred miles today. I don't have the surging issue described, nor have I noticed the clutch springs are a bother. I've too much play in the throttle cable, and can't seem to adjust it out...it causes herky-jerky...

If "Glove Nirvana" can exist, I think I've found it

I've got the same problem with some Frank Thomas gloves, made with kangaroo, by the way. Saved my hands in a somersault, though. I won't buy another of the brand.

    2006 FJR Service Manual

Don't bother ordering a manual, just wait two weeks, and Fred will have created DVD's of every possible service or repair you can think of, plus five hundred farkle ideas you hadn't thought of. I'm buying a house next door to him. :D

    FJR highway footrest mount

How'd you extend them? I'd like to do the same thing. Left side took me about 5 minutes. Right side too six weeks. Finally figured out how to remove the right side fairing...actually, you really just need to loosen all the bottom fasteners...remove 'em...and you can pull the plastic out far...

If "Glove Nirvana" can exist, I think I've found it

I've got Frank Thomas gloves, and they, too stink. I've had them about 18 months. Very comfortable kanga palms, saved my hands in a big fawdown, but yeah, they smell bad.

    Autcom Pro AVI Intercom evaluation

I contacted the Ampli-Rider guy. He says his unit will work just fine with Autcoms...perhaps this will increase sound quality...I had noticed sound is "tinny" compared to running the Autocom through the Goldwing stereo system. His suggestion is to plug ipod, XM, etc, into the Ampli-Rider, then...

    Keeping Cool in my Aerostitch

This is the ticket, works BETTER if you don't have mesh. Texas in August is tolerable, plus you can moonlight as a WalMart greeter. https://www.ridecool.com/catalog_PCVests.htm Nice people, too.
