Question about a Toyota Tundra Oxygen Sensor

For future reference. most auto parts stores will plug in a code reader for no charge and diagnose your check engine light. You can then make a decision weather or not you want to walk back in and purchase the corrective parts or roll over to the dealer that will "flat rate" you for 2 hours of...

well it looks like we are off to good start

My FJR is back in the garage after over one month at the dealer awaiting parts and the eventual repair. My hat goes off to lawrenceville yamaha in lawrenceville Ga. I am at this point very satisfied with the overall results from such a bitch job of repairing the head. A receipt was presented...

    PowerCommander Warning...

Regarding the earlier comment about Arai helmet policy of no internet/ mail order sales. Arai has caved in and now has "Arai certified E-tail dealers". Good lesson to Arai. Dont try to price fix your already high dollar helmets and quit restricting the sales of your product to those of us who...

well it looks like we are off to good start

The yamaha dealer said that yamaha had all the newer superceded part numbers in the system. The newer spec valve guides would be sent automatically. I was also glad to hear that a cam chain and adjuster would be replaced as a bonus. I believe its a bonus for the mechanic as well. The chain and...

    Excessive exhaust valve guide wear

The year models being discussed are air cooled along with the help of a huge oil capacity. Not sure of the exact amount but I believe it is more than ten quarts. Dont hate me if Im wrong. The thing that I found to be similar was the fact that the heat that was being produced in the combustion...

    Excessive exhaust valve guide wear

Since I have my 05 22k mile ticker in the shop for head work right now I had some spare time to delve into the problem a little deeper. My idea was to "google" the phrase in quotation marks, "excessive exhaust valve guide wear" and see what kind of information popped up. This is what came up on...

well it looks like we are off to good start

Update! The dealer just called to give me the good news and the bad news. The good news was that I would not be forking over any green stamps to pay for any non warranty adjustments. The bad news was, your not going to beleive it was that the bike had totally shot exhaust valve guides. WOW...

Trimster. since you are so tight with the boys at the shop, I need a favor. Can you call the H.M.F.W.I.C. and ask how come I here nothing, nothing but silence from those guys. Wonder if they are skeered to crack open another Ticker.

well it looks like we are off to good start

The bike has been at the shop for a couple of days. I have not received a response as to what they have discovered. Wont lean on them unless it goes into next week. Bike has Y.E.S. warranty. I dont think that matters regarding this problem. Keeping my fingers crossed for a quick and proper repair.

well it looks like we are off to good start

The service appointment that was made 60 days ago is finally here. I pulled in to the lawrenceville Yamaha dealer here in the Atlanta area for a diagnosis of the strange noises coming from the engine. This is why I believe we are off to a good start . The service writer listened for a couple of...

Honda introduces a new Moto G.P bike

just read on speed channel main web page that Honda is testing their new 800cc v4 G.P. bike. Wonder if this could be a future platform for a new generation VFR. You gotta know that honda is going to get the horsepower out of this thing for racing use. lets see if they pass on the extra ponnies...

    SM a Suzuki DR-Z400S

sell your current DRZ, then take the money and buy a nice DRZ-SM already supermotoed by the factory. This will cost less than buying all the parts for the changeover of your current bike. A good used DRZ-SM should only be in the low to mid 4K price range

    05 ticker

I have purchased bikes from D & H and will in the future. great people to deal with, but not a place to go for major reoairs. I think yamaha must send sand boxes to most dealers into which they stick their heads when asked about the excesive exhaust valve guide wear on FJR's. We all have heard...

    05 ticker

My 05 with 20k on it is starting to sound like a time bomb. So I must now narrow down my choice of yamaha dealers to consider who will perform the neccessary tear down and repair of the cyclinder head. And like eveyone else who has drawn the short straw and wound up with a ticker, I am not too...

    Sad morning in my garage

Ditto on the seafoam, good stuff originally formulated for boat motors that sit a lot in wet and damp conditions. You can treat your oil , fuel or intake tract directly. About 6 bucks a can at napa and nothern tool. Go to seafoam.com for all the details.

    Tire Balancing at home

I at the recomendation of marc parnes, bought a Coats 220 machine. It was about 800 dollars. I have changed for myself and freinds about 40 sets of tires. the machine has more than paid for itself and was well worth the cash. I caved in to the expense of the purchase after one too many trips to...

    Sad morning in my garage

without a warranty to back you up, sounds like you have it in competant hands. too bad the franchises do not seem to have that level of interest in repairing the very bikes that they sell and therfore supposed to know about in detail.

    Sad morning in my garage

Are you in the Atlanta area. If so Im curious about which dealer is working on your bike. I have an unrepaired 05 ticker. The Reason I have not had it repaired under warranty is because I have zero faith in any of the local Yamaha dealers. Just wondering if you are in the ATL, who is going to...
