My bike totally dies on interstate

Ok, dead thread resurrection here. Short version: I'm posting because my 2008 FJR AE caught nearly identical symptoms this week as posted early in this thread, and the problem was the same as identified here - loose positive battery connection. Slightly longer version: yesterday, bike (2008...

Brand New 09 AE offered on E-Bay

I purchased my new 08 AE in March for $8500 + TTL. Great bike. Was more than happy to get a substantial discount for the AE model. Had a few hundred "demo" miles on it, and came with the full new factory warranty.

Ride FJR toKasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks in Santa Fe?

I live in Los Alamos, and ride Highway 4 every week. One of the finest motorcycle routes in the Southwest. If you're riding to Jemez Springs, you'll want to visit Bandelier National Monument as well. As a bonus, the roads from Bandelier all the way to Jemez Springs are fantastic.

    FJR Audio - Reducing Hum

Happy to help. Mind as well post here in case others are looking to cut down hum. I ran the primary harness in the area under the glovebox. Harness cables for the headsets come through the left front, down the left side of the engine bay (removed gas tank for install) and under the seat. Not...

    FJR Audio - Reducing Hum

Dave, good eye! Really glad to have the comment. I mounted them in the lowest of the 3 pins, and they overhang just a bit with the rounded lip on the triple clamp. I did check twice for a firm fit on the risers, but I'll recheck. No problems, they've been solid for a month since the install...

I've had my 2008 AE for almost 2 months now, just loving the bike. Thanks to everyone here for all the advice, help, etc. With your tutorials, pictures, and archives, I've confidently done many upgrades to my new bike, including handlebar risers, installation of an AudioVox CC100 cruise...

FS: Russel All Day Seat, Gen II

Was not fitted to me. I'm 5 10 , 210. Owner was fitted at 6 ft, 220. Works great for me, I can still flat foot at stops when standing forward.

FS: Russel All Day Seat, Gen II

I've got a gorgeous Russell All-Day Saddle for the Gen II FJR (06-12). This has a leather seating surface, and includes the Russell cover. Been ridden about 800 miles, just broken in. A tiny bit of wear, otherwise as-new. Fantastic improvement over the stock saddle. Seat is near Santa Fe...

    Lurches forward, then down!

Man, I hear you. I, too, thought the center stand was IMPOSSIBLE to use. I always figured, how do these little guys (and girls) get the bike on those things? Then I thought to youtube center stand use. Viola! Several good videos that show proper technique. I've been doing it wrong from day...

    Difference between A and AE

Add me to the ranks that bought an AE because of a huge dealer discount. I was really concerned I'd not like the auto clutch. That concern evaporated right away. Now, I think I prefer the auto clutch. I have an unusual circumstance that has made the AE a godsend. I drive twice a day through...

    June New Mexico/Colorado Trip

Welcome to northern New Mexico! Some fantastic riding here. Plan one day to shoot up to Bandelier National Monument outside Los Alamos. Take US 284 out of Santa Fe, take the turnoff for Los Alamos onto NM 502, the follow the signs to Bandelier. At Bandelier, take the 1.5 mile hike up the...

I've decided on a GPS system

If weatherproofing isn't an issue for you, then yes, the non-weather-proofed Garmins are a much better deal. In my case, riding in the rain means I need the Zumo series. Also, don't forget that the screens tend to wash out on the non-Zumo Garmins in direct sunlight. Make sure to check the...

    hand cramp.

I did an Audiovox CC-100 cruise installation myself. Overall cost well under $250. Works like a charm, but the installation is a bit involved. Will certainly solve your hand cramp problem.

replace heated hand grip 2006 AE

If the harness (wire) keeps breaking on the right grip, that's surely a fixable problem. Use a bit more wire and plenty of electrical tape (assuming the harness broke) or good stiff piano wire and silver solder (if the heating element broke). I've yet to have a broken wire that can't be fixed...
