clutch plate soak didn't help. ack!

With the clutch lever dial at 1 there is 1 3/4" between the lever and the stock grip when the clutch starts to engage on my '05 with 8600 miles.

clutch plate soak didn't help. ack!

With the clutch lever adjusted to number 1, the bike running and in first gear, how much lever movement do you have before the bike starts to move? Neither the owners manual or shop manual give a distance but without measuring mine I'm thinking it's about 3/4" to 1". So if you have about 3/4"...

    Hard to downshift

Gotta do the "clutch soak". But you really don't need to actually soak the plates, just wipe them down good with oil. It does help to use a light cold weight oil, like synthetic Rotella 5W-40. If you don't have a 1/4" drive torque wrench you can get one from Harbor Freight for $20 if you bring...

who thinks this is going to be it for 2010?

Concerning bikes with major changes, or new models, I prefer to wait and see what people report back about what kind of bike it is. I like something proven so I know what I am getting. I like to go with various used bikes instead of one new one. I've got 4 right now. Honda Ascot 500 single...

    Manual Cam Chain Adjuster

Now I get it. After reading about Toecutter's wisdom I was getting defensive.

    Manual Cam Chain Adjuster

There you go. All APE tensioners are the same price, $51.65. For that kind of change why mess with DIY?

    zx-14

The 14 and '08 and later 'Busa with full exhaust, PCIII and flies removed on the 14 have the same 1/4 mile potential. The difference being the 'Busa has a couple of reliability issues while the 14 is bullet proof. The 14 is also probably the easiest of all fast bikes to keep the front end down...

    Issues up the wazuu !

Darknight, form what the lawyer said, I would find another lawyer to talk to. I haven't read the California lemon law but the federal lemon law is fairly cut and dry. If you kept the records of when you took it in and you meet the requirements there shouldn't be a problem.

    Wheel cross-ref?

'04 ABS to '07 wheels have the same part numbers. The part numbers change in '08 but I think that is due to the different color.

    Steering Wobble

Look for something loose. Steering head bearings? Grab the top of both tires and try to move them sideways. Grab the back of the back tire and try to move it sideways to check swing arm bearings.

    Throttle Stuck...

A story of a stuck throttle. 1969, my friends mom is heading south on the 405, San Diego Fwy, Orange County in a 1967 big block Chrysler station wagon. Some how, the throttle sticks wide open and all mom can think of is hit the brakes. Needless to say, those old drum brakes give it up in short...

    Manual Cam Chain Adjuster

If you feel like reading Google: manual cam chain tensioner. Bikes that have had problems with their auto CCT include Gixxer's, CBR600's, ZX-6RR's, and Triumph Daytona 675's, plus various others. One guy did a write up on installing a manual CCT on the BMW GS that looked like a big job...

Wanted any used FJR Cam Chain Tensioner

If I had a business with liability insurance I would be fine with it and let the insurance deal with any problems. I am an employee with no liability insurance and if something goes wrong it comes out of my pocket.

Wanted any used FJR Cam Chain Tensioner

2.5 years ago I was rear-ended by a guy who lied about what happened, sued me and won. True story. Things are way beyond screwed up in lawyer land.

The way things are today I could get sued by the wife of some guy who's engine died on the freway and got killed. No thanks.

Harvey, thank you for your generosity. Last night this sounded like fun. Today, not so much. I don't want to deal with the politics.

Wanted any used FJR Cam Chain Tensioner

Send me your worn out, useless Cam Chain Tensioner off any year FJR. I will make a print of it, a drawing that shows it's size, and send it to what ever various motorcycle parts suppliers I can find or you can think of. They will hopefully see some profit potential and measure the CCT's they...
