    Recall

Took mine to the dealer today. He will not order a part until he inspects the bike to see which one is needed, since there are two possibilities. He said I should have it back in a week.

    FJR and curves

RaYzerman, That is about the pressure that I always use on the bike. I'm not going to switch tires until the need arises, but I'm pretty convinced I need to try something else. Thanks everyone for your input. Keith

    FJR and curves

I love my FJR and fortunate to live in the mountains with some great roads. But, I've noticed that my FJR, '08 version, does not layover into a curve as easily as other bikes I've had, including my last beast, a BMW K1200LT. Don't want to start a tire war post, but was wondering if a change of...

    How Does The Fjr Compare?

Well, I owned a K1200LT, 2003 model. Loved the bike, loved the features, hated the expense of the maintenance (even when I changed all of the fluids myself). For a bike so big, it handled amazingly well. But, I moved to a state that had no BMW dealer and the closest was nearly 5 hours away...

How nimble is your FJR? what about vs a K1200?

In addition to the other great comments you've gotten, you can't forget about the high maintenance cost of the Beemer. I speak from experience. Had a K1200 LT. Loved the beast, it handled well, extremely comfortable and had great long-haul ammenities. But, it also required about $800 worth...

what to bring for my first long road trip

Axeman, Could you explain this a little further? I'm trying to visualize what you are describing. I'd like to make that change to my compressor. Thanks, Keith

    Givi E55 versus V46

I've got the 52 and love it. I have not noticed any handling problems caused by wind, speed or any other outside force. Holds loads of gear. I rarely ever take it off the bike. Keith

    No Complaints

John, That was one of the main reasons I got rid of the LT. Had some great times on the beast. But, despite doing all of the fluid changes myself, it was still costing nearly $800 for service, plus the nearest dealer was 4 hours away. Guess that adds to my enjoyment of the FJR! Keith

    No Complaints

Fine! Now you've added the drama and bitching. Are you happy?

    No Complaints

You know, all to often the posts on boards like this one and many others that I have visited and been a member of spend so much time talking about what's wrong with the product the board represents. I've been guilty of that myself, I suppose. But, I want to say - I LOVE MY FJR! Finally, got...

Two Brothers M-5 and M-2 Post Pic's of mounted on bike

Curious, what changes you have noticed since going to the aftermarket mufflers? Did you have to do any remapping once they were installed. Thanks, Keith

    Hard to downshift

Nope, no new boots. I have experienced what it's like with new boots and how you have to get used to them when shifting. But the difficulty now is on downshifts, not upshifting. Thanks for the suggestion, but this isn't an apparel issue. Keith

    Hard to downshift

OBD, I don't see why that is not worth considering. I'll take a look at my fluid level (which I'm embarrassed to say I haven't checked since beginning this thread). Keith

    Hard to downshift

Nope, no new boots. Nothing was different. I consider a 1,000 to 1,500 miles to still be fresh oil, no other changes to the bike and it's not one of those things that happens right after start up. This is something that just came up after our 800-plus mile trip to Indy. No foul weather...

    Hard to downshift

Raymond, I have not done anything yet. Haven't had the chance and I've been down with a horrible cold. I have noticed the lurch you mention when starting the bike in 1st gear, but I don't know if that is anything unusual from other bikes I've had. And yes, start in neutral and shift into...

    Hard to downshift

Thanks everyone for your input. I suspected that I would find someone with similar experiences. Ride safe. Keith

    Hard to downshift

Road Runner, The bike just topped 5,000. Not many miles at all. As I said, oil was changed about 1,500 miles ago. Didn't get to ride much during the winter, so I had it changed when it warmed up. Still haven't been able to ride much except a couple trips. It's only becoming hard to...

    Hard to downshift

I really don't think the oil is the issue. It was changed just before the trip, there may be 1,500 miles on the oil. Didn't ride through any bad weather. Rained one day while at the track, but again, the problem didn't show up til I got home. Keith

    Hard to downshift

Just got back from a wonderful 850-mile trip to the Indy GP. Bike ran beautifully, 2-up and loaded. I really love this bike. But I've noticed since getting home that it is becoming harder to downshift. By that I mean, it is taking significantly more pressure on the shifter to get into a...

    Cycle World August 09 article

I'll tell you, the cost of the Beemer is just the beginning. I rode a K1200 LT for years. Loved the bike, but every 12K miles it cost almost $800 for service. Just couldn't afford that any longer. I'd always wanted an FJR, got one and haven't looked back. Love the bike! It has made riding...
