    Ignition fix

Thanks much Brodie! I bought the components and built one last Saturday and popped it in. The only real issue I had building it was the 12ga wire. I don't have the crimper for the terminals and the little solder iron I have has a hard time creating that much heat to solder effortlessly. I used...

Parts lists and exploded view on-line

I've been using ronayers for years. They carry a broad line of bikes covered in the fiche. I've used it to order parts and to put things back together. Their service and pricing has always been good as far as I'm concerned.

Mine was just dropped off by UPS. I took tomorrow off and maybe I'll be able to sneak this in.

    Power options for our bike

Aerostich has a number of options. I tried the QuickConnect on my KLR and was not happy with it. I had to use a zip tie to hold the plug in to it. I'm using the Powerlet on the FJR. Be careful not to bend the plug ears back by being sloppy plugging it in. It looks similar to the RS mentioned.

What's your opinion on Cold Weather Gear?

I tend to get cold feet and did the following. What I did for cold feet. I installed the V-Strom handguards and Dual Star elements. I wear thin gloves almost all the time. Finished off with an electric jacket and a pair of balaclava's (light weight or a heavy fleece) depending on temps. I...

    My first 500 mile report

Put my name in the column of FJR as well. As of last fall my garage is HD-less when I got rid of the HD for a '07 Black Cherry FJR. For the first time since '91 in which I split 16 years between a '91 Heritage Classic and in '01 I got more for my '91 Heritage then what I paid for it. I then went...

    Going to Alaska. What tires?

These are the knobbies I used. The front always had the TKC80 on with the Distanza on the rear for out there and back. When both TKCs were on, the bike felt awesome on the loose stuff. Provided a confidence inspiring riding. BTW, I edited my sig line with a link to the AK08 trip pictures...

    Going to Alaska. What tires?

I went on a trip to Inuvik and then on to Prudhoe Bay this June/July. The Dempster Highway to Inuvik in Yukon and NWT was much rougher than the Dalton to Prudhoe. I had read many stories of terror on the roads, trucks, gravel, and being eaten by bears. :) I bought a used 2001 KLR for $2500...

    Rear Shock Question

Hey Guys, Instead of creating a new thread I thought it better to keep on the same topic and keep the information in one place. I read the suspension thread earlier today and went out this evening to futz with my bike. The forks were a breeze. However the rear shock has me in question. I read...

    Hot wire to tail light....

Consider this blue wire as only a trigger for a relay. https://www.spritehawk.com/pix/fjr/FJRelectrics.jpg This came up recently for wiring bikes up but is currently on backorder, but looks very nice. Connections As you can see in my diagram I wired the blue to trigger my relay for the...
