When I bought my Concours in 1999, there was no comprehensive set of web pages for maintaining, fixing, or improving the bike. When I did my first valve adjustment, I took notes and photo's for future reference. A web page was the easier place to store the info, and easy to get at. As time went by, I added more. Then I started to share it. It sort of took on a life of its own and became the Concours Tech Index.

Concours Tech Index

When I bought my FJR, I found that there were a couple of tech sites but not as comprehensive as I would like. They were generally well done with lots of photo's and descriptions by the FJR owners that did the work. Far better than a shop manual.

A while ago I created for myself an web page index of the various tech pages but these are almost all links to external web sites. I have a bit of time on my hands now with semi-retirement and winter approaching and am thinking of expanding this. There are some real gems in the technical section of this forum and I would like to create some permanent web pages ( with the authors' permission ). Here's the index so far:

So, the bottom line is, do you think this is a worthwhile effort and can I count on other FJR owners to help generate the pictures and the narratives ? There is no cost to anyone; I have always paid the ISP costs myself. I won't say that I will never put some advertising in but I haven't in the past and have no plans to at present.

Edited to change location of the FJR Tech Index location

I think maybe working in conjunction with one that's already out there may be a better way to go, although I like your site's references.

Here's one that's already in existence: FJRtech.com

I have used that site in the past along with one or two others. The problem is that I have no way of getting those site owners to add content and no way to properly organize it.

Good point!

B......

I think it's a good idea. I don't think you have any trouble getting content around here as several folks have provided some good documentation on how to perform certain tasks.

I went and checked out the site....... simple and easy to get info.... I'm in!!

Had great pics and great details

Addition of whether GENI or GENII info would be very helpful . . . .For instance the O2 sensor diconnect is listed for all models but are different connectors in the same area with different colored wires on GENII . .

That thought crossed my mind. That's where it will really need to be a group effort to vet the details.

Great work David...

I'm always looking for stuff like this. Furthermore with you living in the land of winter I think you should

completely disassemble your FJR over the next 6 months and rebuild it system by system...logging all the

progress with pics and commentary. That way the how-tos will be complete for next riding season. :p

Soliciting submissions from others will help the project be more complete and quicker. Why didn't I

take more pics of my project this morning (running power from battery to tail section for a fuze block install?

Excellent start! Keep going.

btw. instead of replicating all content at the site you have, you could also link to specific threads here (assuming the content here doesn't vanish for some reason ...) oh, I see you are already doing that w/ FJRTech ... great
