    Pannier Locks?

I read the whole thing and ignored it thinking that mine was exempt from the problem. At 23,000 those screws worked loose at grandson's T-Ball game. I got lucky and lost no parts. Read that whole thread and check everything on it.

Piston Hit Valve, spark plug melted

I looked at the pictures and am pretty sure I see a valve sticking into the crown of the piston. looks like the valve broke, got imbedded into the piston, and beat the spark plug up pretty good. I have no idea what broke the valve. Maybe contact after a chain slip. Maybe some other problem...

Rich and rough engine woes -- 2001 (03 US) Gen 1

Sath, could this thought process be why your are still off by at least a half a tooth? I do not think you will ever get this engine back in time by moving the chain at the crank gear. You will have to secure the chain at the crank and move the chain one tooth at the cam. What Fred has...

    exhaust drone at low RPM

I love the sound of that motor myself and really do not like the wind noise above 50 because I can not hear it very well. I guess everyone is different. I doubt you will be able to quiet it down much more than stock. Maybe it is time for it to go.

2008 won't go into neutral when stopped, shift fine when rolling

Sounds like you have some air in the clutch circuit. Are you sure your not getting some back in their while you are bleeding it? Maybe a slave leaking, but I doubt it. I guess it is also possible that you have a burr in the basket, but again, I doubt it. Sounds like air in the system. Maybe the...

    2010 Intermittant Low Idle

While the 10's are not included in the recall, I wonder if this is a grounding issue? I hope not, as I also own a 10, but there are three or four earthing blocks "spiders" that you can get at real easy. I think you should pull the caps and take a good look at the shorting bar and terminals.

    What happened to Isabella's Engine?

I think the thing you referenced as possibly a breather element is the oil cooler. In the picture of the block showing the broken bold, it looks like there are metal fragments in the oil passages for the cooler. I would suspect the oil pump as the culprit for this failure, but the upper end...

Pictures from my OEM Top Case Backrest that didn't fit well..(question?)UPDATE..FIXED!

You have good looking toys. That 750 adventure bike you have in the background looks like a lot of fun. Good job making the back rest fit.

    No air-filter? Great job dealership...

"... they did the TPS recall, a new front tire and an oil change" I don't think the dealer would have to touch the air filter for any of this. I guess they may have blown it out as part of the oil change, but with so few miles, I doubt a dealer would have done it. Sorry about you problem and...

Rich and rough engine woes -- 2001 (03 US) Gen 1

I suspect your mechanical timing is off by at least one tooth. The motor is surging because the ECU is attempting to correct for the valve timing being off. The ECU is doing so by adjusting the ignition timing and fuel trim. There is no way that the ECU will succeed in making this engine run...

Pictures from my OEM Top Case Backrest that didn't fit well..(question?)UPDATE..FIXED!

****FOUL**** You have a very bad picture of it broken Mihalis. The picture is bad because it shows only and ill fitting back pad, a wall, and some trees. You have not posted a picture of it assembled properly. Do the picture of the fix correct, and include a little of your beautiful country in...

    The FJR's Stock Suspension SUCKS!

I agree. I have learned that the proper massaging of an erection enhances cornering clearance while riding two up. Who knew? Must be the blood flow, I guess it has something to do with fluid dynamics. I am sure the engineers among us will give us a better understanding.

1st oil change. Did I miss something?

Dude, I suspect it was attached to the bolt. It looked very much like the head of the bold and can be real hard to see. If you get bored you need to go ahead a grease everthing. They do not put enough grease on these things from the factory. Grease the throtle tube, brake lever, Clutch Leaver...

How about a Cajun Get Together

I would have an interest in this trip. I think camping would be wonderful, and I would like to catch some Redfish. I forgot to mention, October or early November would work better than December. It can get real cold, have snow and Ice on the roads here long before December.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Changed out the brake fluid. Front and rear were as expected. Fluid was a dark but looked pretty normal. Clutch was a different story. The fluid was very dark, and the reservoir had a lot of dirt in the bottom of it. I sucked all the fluid out of the reservoir and cleaned up the dirt with a dry...

    Propane and vacuum leak testing

I quit using flamable substances to check for leaks years ago, several bad experiences in the shop. Now I use a spray bottle filled with water on mist. Surprisingly, if the leak is small you will still see an idle increase when you hit the spot with the water. Most of the time when you find the...

    Rear shock linkage maintenance

TomInCA, there was a guy in Austrailia that decided the Yamaha had missed the boat by not equiping this part with Zerk Fittings. He added them. Once put together he had trouble accesseing some of the fittings with his gun. He did the Relay Arm and the Swing Arm. He never posted a followup and...

Russel Seats and the FJR seat spacer

That has been my experience as well. I have read others saying that the seat is no higher than stock. That is not my experience. If you used the high setting with the stock seat you will find the low setting with the Russel pretty close. I find the high setting with the Russel a pretty good fit...

What did you do to your FJR today?

I finally got around to doing this Relay Arm. This is on a 2010 with 21,000 miles. I am glad I did not wait any longer. I will likely replace the bushings and bearings the next time I do this service. As I think this is worn pretty bad for low mileage I will do this service again next winter...
