    CA to The Dakotas

Thanks for the info. I haven't ridden Hwy 141 yet. I'll see if were going on the western side of Colorado. I rode Hwy 550 last October on my Birthday ride. It was fabulous. I stayed in Ridgeway the night before I rode over Hwy 550. Nice little town.

    CA to The Dakotas

I will look at the map and check these roads out. I will be at KOA every other night. I need to see if these roads are near one, if not its hotel night. I really appreciate the info. Thanks

    CA to The Dakotas

Thanks for all the info I received last October. I took my first long trip and it was a blast. I'm hooked now. I am riding from CA to the Dakotas in July. MY route will leave CA heading for AZ, NM, CO, WY, SD, ND, MT, ID, OR and back home to CALI. What are the must see points of interest and...

    Am I being too ambitious?

Being some what of a FNG all I can say is do it. My first trip was from CA to CO. It was one of my best vacations I've taken. Of all the farkles and gear I got, the throttle lock is the best item I added. I can't imagine holding the throttle for 3,000 miles. You'll do fine and it will be a...

3M CUSTOM BIKE WRAP INSTEAD OF PAINT

I have the patience but not the skills to do the job. I will be paying someone for the work. That way they can do it how ever many times it takes to get it right.

Locking Oil Fill Cap for FJR

A simple tamper resistant lock would be nice. I bought the Touratech oil filler lock and have used it only once ($70). It's a pain in the *ss to put on and take off with the key.

3M CUSTOM BIKE WRAP INSTEAD OF PAINT

I did a forum search but did not find any info on wrapping a bike. I know you can by the 3M protective kit for the FJR. I am considering finding someone who can apply a custom wrap on my bike instead of paint. I could just do a portion or most of the bike. Has anyone on the forum done this to...

2009...what a good year for riding

WOW! Looks like you got alot of riding in. I wish I did not have to work so much, then I could ride more. Being a FNG to sport touring, my first trip was in October 09. A week of riding Southern Ca to Colorado. I was blown away by the trip. I'm looking forward to my next trip where ever it might be.

    CORBIN

WOW!!! That's pretty bad service. I purchased a Corbin seat through their Florida location and received it in four weeks. It was actually a very easy purchase. The guy who took my order was very user friendly. And the Corbin seat was definitely worth the money I paid. If you paid by credit card...

    Do I smell something burning????

WOW!!! What portion of your body due you pull skin from to cover you *ss#. Forget the video the comments LMAO. I guess you probably would tighten and clinch if your *ss @ is on fire. And the avatar with the guy lighting himself on fire CLASSIC. WOW! I'm still laughing. Where do you guys find...

    AE u-turns

I have about 30,000 miles on my AE in less than 2years. One out of state trip, weekend riding only and I'm no pro yet either. The trick is practice / trial and error. Everyone has their own way of doing something. What works for one doesn't for the other. If you find yourself in trouble on a...

    Whistler Bluetooth Headset

Being a FNG an all maybe I'm missing something or I just don't get it. It seems everyone is worried, that if they use their phone for GPS and music it will drain the battery. I thought every FJR had a power outlet on it, mine does. Also, couldn't you just add a Powerlet to your bike to keep the...

    Whistler Bluetooth Headset

I haven't had a problem with the buttons. Once you set it up and use it enough, you get a feel for were the buttons are. The volume seems pretty easy to use now. You just have to press firmly and release multiple times to decrease or increase the volume. If you press and hold the button you will...

HUGE PROPS to Neil San Diego!! Thanks for the Elk meat

WOW!! How ironic is that. I thawed out 3 elk steaks this morning. They were given to me from a friend in Murrietta. I messed them up though, I grilled them to long and they over cooked. My friend warned me that it would cook a little fast. I guess I didn't listen to good. He served me some elk...

    Whistler Bluetooth Headset

I don't have any problems with the phone, it works great. You can adjust the microphone for sensitivity. It states how to do this in the instructions.

    LD-riding in 20F-40F weather gear-

I purchased a pair of LD Riding Tights and a baclava along with electric gloves, electric socks, electric pants liner, and electric jacket liner. I wore the LDs as a base, electric pants liner, then my waterproof textile riding pants. I a wore long sleeve t-shirt, electric jacket liner, then my...
