    Taming the beast

Here's a link to the place where I bought mine: https://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/prod...tion_Path~3.asp

    Tire Failure

Concensus is that the best type of plug is a "mushroom" patch installed from the inside. I'd ride one of those for a while- but for $150 it's worth it to get yourself a new tire as soon as reasonably possible. The thing is, with 146 HP, these bikes put a lot more stress on the rear tire than...

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

Shoei's block 100% u.v. They make good shields that stay right where you put them- the latch is one of the best out there. The "Pinlock" system seems to work well, also- and you can get a Shoei shield with the pinlock system pre-installed. Great if you ride in the rain or cold climates.

    Seat height spacer???

So does the seat go on top of the receiver, then? Cause it's inside it now and it has too much forward slope.

    Seat height spacer???

Okay- I'm a knucklehead... got the bike ('06) all buttoned back up after a major electrical install and was amazed to find ZERO extra parts!!!....but I can't get the spacer at the front of the rider's seat into the proper position. The way I got it to snap on seems of have more of a slant to...

    Fuse sizing help

I just did the same mods to my bike- but for now the Blue Sea is in the tankbag...until I get back from a trip to Yurp next month- then it goes under the seat. Sounds like you're on the right track- The Pump is gonna be your big draw... I got an Autocom instead of the Starcom- it was on...

12V Power Strip, or 12V Power Connector, or both

That AirMan can draw 12-13 amps- aside from a set of Gerbings, it's the heaviest draw you're likely to place on your electrical system as far as farkles go- so you're gonna need some decent wire. The SAE's come with 12 Ga typically- and that's enough for what you're trying to do as long as...

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

When I was in the industry, those meters were notoriously unreliable. It will be interesting to see what you come up with~

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

The key is OPTICAL grade. Not simply "Plastics". You're looking at apples and oranges. Something that is manufactured specifically for the use in optics is generally going to block most, if not all of the UVA and UVB. The dimestore crap you see that has no base curve- the lens curves along...

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

Most plastics are not suitable for optical use. Optical grade plastics usually block both all by themselves.

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

as I said earlier in the thread- they'd have to search pretty hard to find a material that didn't block 100% U.V. for their shields- it's really not that hard to get an optical plastic that blocks extremely well. This is a real surprise to me. Suddenly I'm glad I've got a Shoei head!~

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

Lots of misinformation here- I used to be a rep for Vuarnet back in the 80's and was trained pretty well in the elements of a quality lens. First of all- Polarization has NOTHING to do with blocking UVA or UVB rays- it is designed for glare. Glare is light that has been "aligned" into...

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

He's right- but not just the brand "lexan"- it's true of darned near all plastic lens materials... see post #4

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

Well, isn't that some pleasant news!?! Even worse is the fact that UVB is most harmful to the eyes. Time for a pinlock attachment to that sucker- or a switch of helmet brands. They'd have to be using some seriously cheap materials for that to be the case- I'm surprised, and view this as a...

    Helmet Visors- UV Protection?

Yeah- that shield is giving you good UV protection- Most of the plastics that allow good optics also block U.V. fortunately. Proof? Does your nose get sunburn on a long ride? Nope! Same concept for protecting your eyes. That photochromic shield you posted has gotten SHIT reviews- save your...

Build Own Custom Seat with Corbin and Stock Pan

I'm glad someone else finds it odd that Corbin would go SHORTER with their seat!~ WHY? Is there a big outcry for a shorter option on a bike that comes with such a reasonable seat height to begin with?...and not a whole lot of extra leg room. It's like they didn't realize that dropping the...

    Morgan Carbtune II- Backorder

I just put in a direct order with Morgan- Thanks for the heads' up- Cal Sporttouring was nice enough to email me and let me know that they were backordered and that I could cancel my order if I was unwilling to wait. Looks like I'll be able to do the TBS sooner than I'd planned.

    Morgan Carbtune II- Backorder

I've got no environmental motivations- I just don't wanna go to use a mercury balancer some day and find that I've gotta track down additional mercury before I can tune my bike- The Carbtune seems to be a better mousetrap~ We'll see.

    Morgan Carbtune II- Backorder

I'll give that a try!!! Thanks~ Do you live in the U.S.?

    Morgan Carbtune II- Backorder

Thanks man- I'll keep it in mind. I'm doing one change at a time and living with it to see the results- so far it's running better, so I'm on hold for the CarbTune. Now we're looking at Sept delivery according to Cal Sporttouring. :angry2:
