    Dealers that have repaired tickers?

Thanks for the info. I've added Doug Kane Motorsports to the list I'm compiling. I just don't understand why all dealers don't take care of their customers like Doug Kane.......................perhaps I'll be buying my next bike from him too. Thanks again, Joe

    Dealers that have repaired tickers?

I've listened to the sound bytes and I'm pretty sure it is "the tick". I spoke to the service manager again today. He acknowledged there is an abnormal sound so the first hurdle has been cleared. He still suggested doing the 26,000 mile service at my expense. I told him if they do the 26,000...

    Dealers that have repaired tickers?

Mark, Ed seems like a decent guy and I'm going to be as nice as possible as long as he is willing to keep moving forward. Hopefully this will get resolved without it getting too ugly. Thanks, Joe

    Dealers that have repaired tickers?

Mark, Thanks for the info. Ed is the guy I've been dealing with at DGY. I am going to verify that they acknowledge the noise. Obviously this won't go anywhere if they claim they don't hear it. Joe

    Dealers that have repaired tickers?

I took my 'ticker' in last week to DGY in Downers Grove, Illinois for the TPS replacement and also told them to check out the engine noise. I didn't mention any knowledge of the ticking problem. The service manager told me he'd have a technician take a look at it and would call Yamaha to see if...

    CFO Route sheets

Cool.....count us in as no-whining followers! (I'm not even going to mention the other thing). Joe

    CFO Route sheets

Yeah, I agree with you. Are there plans for groups to depart at a certain time or is this all on your own? I'd prefer to ride in a group and not have to worry about maps. Either way I'm sure it will be a blast! Thanks, Joe

    CFO Weather Report

While I certainly hope and expect it to be a perfect weekend weather-wise, Cathy and I will be sporting brand-new Aerostich suits. We bought them mainly for an AMA tour we're taking in October but we need to put some miles on them to soften them up. So, if it does rain we'll be warm and dry! Joe

    Non-FJR Riders Welcome?

Thanks all! I didn't figure it would be a problem since we're all part of a brotherhood but I wanted to ask before inviting him. He's a good guy and you'll probably like him better than me! Joe

    Non-FJR Riders Welcome?

My wife and I are planning to come to this event and look forward to meeting, riding, and learning all about FJRs form the group. I mentioned this rally to a friend that I know through a Suzuki GS website: GSResources He mentioned that he'd like to attend but he doesn't have an FJR (not that he...

    CFO 2006 RESERVATIONS

I just reserved a room for my wife Cathy and myself. I don't post on this forum a lot but I lurk and learn quite a bit. I've met WheatonFJR (helped him install tires a couple seasons ago) and recently bought a set of leathers from Smitty on ebay. I look forward to meeting and riding with all of...

    Heated grip question

Thanks for all the help. I went with Aqua Net Extra Super Hold. The grips seem to be secure. I'll see how the hair spray holds up in cooler weather when I use the haeted grips. Joe

    Heated grip question

I'm in the process of installing Symtec grip heaters. I've finished installing the heating elements on the bars and all the wiring, all that's left to do is install the grips (Pro Grip Gel grips). My questions is: What's the best adhesive to use on the grips? The Symtec instructions say to use...

    Custom Jacket

How did the sizes work out? Did you order one size larger than you normally would? Thanks, Joe

    Custom Jacket

I'd take a XXL for myself and a medium for my wife...........

    The Right Rotella?

I doubt that the clutch would slip 'at steady, moderate speeds or under non-heavy acceleration' but not under hard acceleration. Perhaps you were experiencing the famous 'FJR Lean Surge'? When I first got my FJR it ran so poorly under the circumstances you describe that I thought there was...

    Oil Filter Cost And Alternatives

The website referenced above by Staledonut, https://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Filters.html#OilFilters has a nice writeup about oil filters. It details why Fram filters are not the best.......... Thanks, Joe

    The Right Rotella?

Thanks.................This is good info. The Rotella looks like a great alternative to the more expensive synthetics and the dino is very reasonably priced too. Thanks again, Joe

    Scratched Side Panels

I washed the FJR today for the first time since returning from a 4800 mile vacation. I was surprised to see that the left side panel had some gunk (road tar?) on it and quite a few medium scratches. I figured some road tar had gotten on my pants, caught some hard debris, and caused the...
