    2006 vs 2008 FJR1300

I have 50,000 miles on my '06. Rode around the country last year (11,000 miles). Not a single problem.

    spare keys

Thanks, guys. I had looked up Hide a key and did not come across anything. I think the lanyard/tank bag or duct tape are the way to go. Like the license plate too.

    Hide a key?

I am going to be on the road for a couple of mos. Never lost a key, but am getting into the "what if" scenarios. Riding solo.

    Hide a key?

Where do you keep an extra set of keys when you are going on a multi-day ride?

The FJR has pushed my cruiser into oblivion

I have a 2004 VTX. It wasn't the performance bike that I wanted and got an FJ in '06. I only began to appreciate the VTX after I got the FJ and have kept both. I do not have a windscreen on the VTX and it is my go to bike when it is hot out and I want to go out for a spin. It is not called a...

    Trans-Canada Highway

Str8, Wheaton, Ice, I am going to have to pull out a map and then read all of these replies. Wawa, Superior, Thunder Bay???? Time is not much of an issue. Leaving in early May and will be in Canada sometime in early July. Boring and congested is not what I am looking for. Beemerdons, spent...

    Trans-Canada Highway

I am planning a ride next summer that will take me from So. Cal east to Key West, north to Maine and then across the southern Trans-Canada Highway to Vancouver Island. South from there. Just starting to research the trip. Any thoughts/suggestions on the Canadian leg would be appreciated. Saw...

Marty, hope you are O.K. Bikes are replaceable.

    Went a## over tea kettle.

Highsided my CBR 1000RR a week ago last Sunday. Same twisty mountain road that I have enjoyed many times on my FJ. I think the difference was the lack of ABS brakes on the CBR. Pilot error for sure, but it has since occurred to me that the brakes on the FJ have probably saved my a-- at least...

    Motorcycle Rentals

beemerdons, I will definitely have a gps. Really appreciate the advice. Looking at a Beemer. The 1600 looks like overkill. However, i will need some storage space. Perhaps the 1200 RT. I know I will be on some dirt/side roads. Any suggestions?

    Motorcycle Rentals

Thank you Billy and Beemerdons. The AD-MO selection/ease looks great. I am going to knock off Northern Italy, Austria and Germany, along with Switzerland. Really looking forward to it. How easy is it to find places to camp in these countries? Would it be worth packing a tent and sleeping...

    Motorcycle Rentals

Hi All. I am looking to rent a motorcycle in either Zurich or Geneva for two weeks this summer beginning arond July 10. I would like to return it in Zermatt but recognize that I will likely have to return the bike wherever I pick it up. Any recommendations on a rental company would be...

    Go Cruise Throttle Control

I just picked these up this week. It does not fit over grip puppies, which I imagine can be cut or folded back. Has anyone used the Go Cruise who has grip puppies?

    Givi top box

Dawg, I will be traveling one-up, single person tent, etc. Same recommendation? BTW, I have heard of some riders experiencing higher speed wobble and do not know if larger cases are more prone. Thanks again.

    Givi top box

I have settled on a Givi top case, but not the size. I am going to do some long distance touring, camping along the way and Givi recommend the V46. I had been thinking about going even larger (more room is better), but am interested in hearing from those on this message board. Thanks.

SoCal (Irvine) - Sighting, close encounter, and contact…

Hey Bluesman. Nice to meet you. Took off Sunday for 20 plus miles along Glendora Ridge Rd. Still no pictures.

    Glendora Ridge Road

I was up at Mount Baldy this past weekend and rode on Glendora Ridge Road. So much fun!!! I know that there are other great rides, but I had never been on a road like this. 12 miles each way. Endless curves. Hardly any traffic. Beautiful views. The ride up there is also nice once you get...

    Campsite suggestions

I am planning a solo coast to coast trip and would like to camp as much as I can when I am not visiting friends or family. The route will take me from So. Cal to Key West and then up to Maine. From there I am planning on riding through Canada to B.C. before taking it back home. I would...
