Highsided my CBR 1000RR a week ago last Sunday. Same twisty mountain road that I have enjoyed many times on my FJ. I think the difference was the lack of ABS brakes on the CBR. Pilot error for sure, but it has since occurred to me that the brakes on the FJ have probably saved my a-- at least a few times in the past without my even knowing it. Fortunately, I was wearing the right gear though the mesh jacket didn't save my collarbone. One other thing. Had I not been wearing a full helmet my face would have been toast. I also ride a VTX and when I do always wear a half helmet. One of the pleasures of living and riding in So. Cal. I will have another month or so to figure that out. Ride safe.

Sorry about your get off. Glad to hear that you are mostly OK. Don't know that non-mesh gear would have made a difference for your collarbone though. That probably has more to do with the way you hit rather than the gear. I have a friend who has a CBR and he put it down. He had the decal kit for after the repair and I asked him, "what does CBR stand for? Crashed But Repaired?". :p Hope you heal quickly and are able to heal the bike. ABS does rock!

Sorry to hear about your injury. Hopefully your collar bone will mend itself as nicely as mine did. CE armor does not do anything for the collarbone area I guess.

I did not know that CBR stood for that, but the "RR" stands for "Road Rash."

Glad yer okay! that does suck.

But does ABS know when the rear tire is sliding laterally? I didn't think it knew that?

I mean that's what a high side comes from right? lateral sliding of the rear tire?

My guess is rear wheel locked up going in to a turn, got sideways, let off the brakes and boom.

Highsides are usually not that forgiving. Heal well.

I test road a 2012 CBR1000RR last Sat. That bike has some squirt!

Sorry to hear about your bike, and, glad your okay. But at least you recognize the cause of the high side. Stop nailing your back breaks mmmKay :D

On the street, sane in, fast out.

Rear brake will get you in trouble real quick if you come in too hot.
