    Gun control

Under stress, your accuracy drops dramatically. When the adrenalin starts flowing, you start experiencing auditory exclusion (loud sounds become quieter), tachypsychia (time seems to slow down), tunnel vision, and a loss of fine motor skills (from loss of blood to the extremities). All of this...

    Home Safe from GA Rally

I had an excellent time and I'll go riding with you guys anytime. Conversely, anyone unfortunate enough to get stuck behind me who has tips on improving my riding, feel free to speak up. :D Gasport (I never read your name that way until this weekend, heh), GREAT roads!! And some damn good...

    Ga. FJR Rally, TWO, Suches

You know, I didn't even notice Ashe when we passed... I think I was too busy trying to keep up! The night pics ranged from half a second exposure to almost two seconds at 3200 ISO... shrink up in the chair, tuck in the arms, hold the breath, and pray.

North Georgia FJR Rally!! Mark your calendar!

Well, I got them converted; but the TomTom wants to choose routes between waypoints, which means if there aren't a LOT of waypoints, it'll try to make its own route. Most of them came out OK, but a couple have some really stupid backtracks because of the automatic routing.

North Georgia FJR Rally!! Mark your calendar!

I'm gonna give a shot at converting these to tomtom .itn files. I should be there Friday evening sometime.

North Georgia FJR Rally!! Mark your calendar!

Do we need to register with TWO or anything ahead of time, or just show up?

    Fuel shortages?

It's been hit or miss around here. I normally drive a G-ride during the week and only run the mustang on weekends, and had parked it two weeks ago almost on empty. The little mileage computer said 10 Miles to Empty. Rode the bike over the next two weeks instead of taking the car anywhere. Rode...

How's the view from your "Cubicle"?

60% of the time I'm here: Panorama of sorts from the chair-side view: Office mascot: Only slightly better looking than my co-workers: 20% of the time I'm here, teaching: And 20% of the time I'm here, trying not to get shot by NSMFers.

As always, a good day in Suches GA

Dale's is (was) the store at 180 and 60 that just recently closed. He's been in a hospital and having a hard time keeping the place going.

Payback for that last speeding ticket

No, we used probes too. About half the class got probes and the other half got taped- cartridges are $26 apiece and we couldn't afford to use probes on everyone! Two of 'em got one probe in the small of the back and one on the right ass cheek. :o

Payback for that last speeding ticket

We did taser training here recently, and there was no shortage of cameras and spectators to record the event; so I edited together the results with some appropriate music. Yes, the guy with the goatee grinning as he pulls the trigger is me. Warning, it was encoded in high-def and ended up as a...

    A Radar Operator's Primer

Never hit one of the culverts, but the cut-throughs that the DOT engineered into the medians make nifty launch ramps when you hit them from the downhill side! :o Got stuck in the mud in the median of I85 once. The helpful semi drivers gave me long honks on their horns as they passed. <_<

    A Radar Operator's Primer

It doesn't, unless it's transmitting. So when the operator is tooling along watching for speeders, making his visual estimates, but not transmitting; there won't be a speed displayed in the patrol speed window. When he spots a speeder and makes his visual estimate, he presses the transmit button...

    Helen group ride

    A Radar Operator's Primer

Well... I'm not up for a long back-and-forth on it this morning; but from a practical standpoint and many hours of operating police radar, I've never observed that happen. It all depends on the operator and his knowledge of what the radar is seeing; including with moving radar. Moving radar does...

    A Lidar Primer

Trying to keep it as simple as possible for LEO classes; who have a notoriously low tolerance for overly technical descriptions. :) Hmm. Part of his morning accuracy check should have been checking the display for missing or broken segments/lights... another lazy operator. Wait, speed limit...

    A Lidar Primer

For what it's worth- here's my take on explaining how radar and lidar work. I'm not an electronics guru; while I have a ham radio license, I've only got a hobbyist's understanding of electronics and radio theory. I'm approaching this from the law enforcement angle as a more practical, rather...
