During school hols & busier periods I pre-plan the routes (to a degree anyway) and accomodation for peace of mind. If it is outside the main holiday period then I sometimes just go and see where I end up. Sometimes I camp, for this trip I stayed in hostels for £15/night. Could not face camping...

I'm used to riding a BMW 1200 GS and it had a bar around the instrument cluster that I clamped the ram mount to. I find the gps screen is too low/close for me in the navigator mount, I'm used to flicking my eyes at the dash and seeing it there. I can't really see it now without moving my head...

Thanks guys...I've had a look at these dashes....and I'm not too keen to be honest... I do like the sound of an instrument cluster bracket though, all I need to get is a 1" ram ball above the rev counter...oh well, plastic removal time...

I have the FJR navigator mounting kit fitted between the handlebars and my Zumo 660 mounted onto it.....this is driving me nuts... :( I tried it in the usual clutch reservoir position too... I want to mount the Zumo either directly above and slightly forward of the speedo or the rev counter...
