    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

WHOA I find it ludicrous to pay the amount of money required for a russell. Mine engages the seat brackets perfectly, releases easily. Sounds like those who bought russells are trying to justify their getting raped financially. Doesn't seem to be all that heavy, but I shall actually weigh it and...

    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

I'll be foaming the back seat and seeing if I can transfer the back rest to the forward seat. I liked the leather design and the fit when I had it opened up, just needed some squishy. My take is that the only break in would be the leather.

    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

So a Corbin seat is never going to "break in". I think that the pan and cover are awesome, there are lots of choices for a foam upgrade. I will be removing the factory seat cover from my original seat mostly out of curiosity. I'd like to see what Russell puts in their seats as well.

    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

OK I see I need to find a host to send my pictures to in order to put them on this forum. Not going to happen. Too bad

    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

I bought a Corbin seat off of the classified ads and decided to modify the foam in the seat. Drilling out the rivets and separating the foam from the cover revealed very little foam between the cover and seat pan- hence the firmness of the seat. Costco has pillows made up of memory foam...

Tinted Handguards (In a Very Cheap Price!)

I live in the area of long winters. I installed a set on my 08. Three mods necessary to use with a throttle meister and stock levers. Drill end hole to 3/4 inch. Drill lever pivot bolt hole to 1/4 inch. Slot the guards about 3/4 inch wide in the area of the side reflector (I removed the side...

    Lost my luggage lock

Got my locks straightened out. What is with the tamper proof screws that come on the locking arm? When they are exposed the luggage is open anyway. Used duck bill pliers with threadlocker. Done.

    Windsong of the West

Now that you are getting over in my area, I can recommend Highway 12 in Idaho along the Lochsa River. No highway hypnosis on this road. Leave Missoula and enter Idaho. Stop at the Lolo Hot Springs and soak. End up in Lewiston and then angle up to Seattle. Just a thought.

Handling of a Stock 2008 FJR

As I never get tired of saying, I purchased a low mileage 2008 FJR recently. I have been in the process of replacing all fluids, the antifreeze looked the worst of all (8 years old). Tonight I was able to take the bike out on a local road that leads to a ski resort above the city, Very nice...

    Lost my luggage lock

Whatever the new locks cost has been offset by the great technical help available on this site. I just finished changing all of the liquids in the various systems of my bike with guidance from this great resource. I am now planning a 300 mile round trip with my wife down though Idaho to Northern...

    Lost my luggage lock

I lost my luggage lock last night. Found the piece with the red mark but lock cylinder was gone. Dealership wants $90 for replacement. Found a set of 3 locks on ebay for $64. Checked other lock and screws were also loose. Check it out and threadlock it

    Cam Chain Tensioner

I went to the linked discussion with how-to. That discussion spoke of a fix in 2007. Then the CCT with the blue dot came up. Seems some CCTs have the upgrade without the blue dot. My engine is a 2008, sounds fine on start up, may be the new upgrade. At less than 4000 miles it can wait.

    Cam Chain Tensioner

New to my 08 FJR (3700 miles). Missed this discussion because I just got to this forum. Reading these posts gives me the idea that Yamaha had an assembly problem with a component that has varying cam chain tension from the factory, and maybe insufficient tension as it wears. Right so far? If...

FJR frame not an electrical conductor

Grounding through the frame is archaic. Many electronic devices use a change in voltage to signal an action, rather than an on-off analog signals. Varying resistances due to grounding variances can cause loss of control of an item such as radio volume, digital readouts (tachs, speedometer etc)...
