I use hydrogen peroxide on bugs but they have to be "fresh" (within 24 hours) for them to fizz up and come off easily.

I like the upside method of draining and use the same new fork oil to flush until it's clean. It gives me the peace of mind that there is no dilution of the final fill.

I have used the PIAA Xtreme white bulbs and have been very pleased with the whiter, more intense light. I've been running the PIAA bulbs (I think they claim 80/100 watts of light with current draw consistent with 55/60) and they do seem to work as advertised and I haven't had one burn out yet.

Pickles, I'm using an '05 on my '08. I put them side by side and I can't see any difference. I wanted to use the gutted cat header from my '05 on the '08. I never could get an explanation for the different part number.

Having owned a Gen I ('05) and a Gen II ('08) I am definitely happier with the Gen II. The improvements were well worth making the change to the later model.

Tom, a little time with a heat gun and maybe some pieces of metal and clamps could get the tray right. If you clamp it straight, heat it and then let it cool the plastic can often be reformed. Sometimes bending slightly beyond true is necessary if it doesn't set up propeerly when cool. Just a...

I concur with the last four posts. I never considered it a viable option when I owned my '05 cooker and was looking for everything to reduce the heat. With my '08, no efforts to reduce heat were necessary.

On the FJR I carry a compressor. On the bikes that don't have the storage capacity, I carry CO2 cartridges. I got a flat 30 miles from home on my Honda 919. Repaired it with sticky strings and 3 or 4 CO2 cartridges. I drove home with no problems although slower than I normally ride.

The Motoport not only flows air well, it won't be a shredded mess of polyester after a get-off. If you happen to slide on an unarmored area of a lesser jacket, your odds of getting road rash or melted polyester in your skin is high compared to a Motoport. Having owned a Joe Rocket Phoenix...

No oil will come out if done on the sidestand.

The stuff works and it is not repackaged Gold Bond- its formulation is different and clearly more effective. Noticeably more comfort in warm weather riding.

The new tank probably comes without the fuel pump and that will be swapped over. Dealers often sell their "mistakes" on eBay. If they give you the old tank back, you could put it on eBay.
