Left my bike at home with the woman while deployed

I was scrolling down to see where the bike is located. I see it's in Texas, but had you been within driving range in New York/Connecticut or thereabouts I was going to volunteer to prepare the bike for storage for you. It would have been a pleasure to thank you for your service to the country...

08 FJR R&R Clutch Plate Soak

I did the plate oiling on my '08 with 2300 miles. It too had the slightly stiff shifting and wouldn't roll with the clutch pulled in first. When I opened it up I found what the others did; the first and last friction disc were oiled, but everything in between was dry. Shifting has improved...

Avon Storm vs Michelin PR2 vs the rest??

I just called Michelin. The "B" designation is for two riders they said. So it probably is an extra belt for load carrying. Lighter weight people shouldn't have any problems two up with the non "B" tire according to the person I spoke with.

Avon Storm vs Michelin PR2 vs the rest??

For those who ordered the the PR2s, did you order the 180/55-17 for 171.99 or the 180/55-17B for 202.99? The footnote says the "B" is the one for the FJR. Maybe an additonal sidewall belt like the Bridgestone BT20N?

    How many Motorcycles?

I have four that are licensed. My '08 FJR, my '06 FZ1, my '03 Honda 919, and an '01 XT225. I'm restoring an example of the first bike I owned, a candy yellow 1972 Honda CT70H. I have 99% of the parts, all painted pieces are done, NOS chrome or rechromed pieces, zero mileage rebuilt engine. I...

    Fork seals...

Fork seals don't often fail at that mileage by themselves. Fluid overfill or a stone hit is the more likely cause at that mileage. Don't just replace the seal. Carefully examine the fork leg for impact damage that can be very small. The impact causes a crater effect that has raised edges...

Thoughts and prayers to you and his family and appreciation for his service to our country.

    Datel readings

I installed my Datel on my '08 using a reed relay from Radio Shack. Reed relays have minimal current consumption and are very limited in what they can safely switch, but for the Datel it's fine. This allows me to have an ignition switched direct reading of my battery voltage. My numbers run...

    boots scratching side cover?

Duane at Premier Cycle in Ohio has just added a side cover protection film kit. I caught the wear marks on mine before the paint wore through and I'm putting the kit on.

    Tire wear.

With most of my bikes I get two backs to one front. I admit I'm aggressive with the throttle. I do believe in matched sets, so once I find a tire I like, I just replace it with the same.

promised pic of my newly aquired FJR poster...

I have one of my '05 on the wall of my garage (no way would the wife be happy if it was on a wall in the house) but would love to get one of my '08. Has anyone seen the wall poster for an '08? I don't know if they even made one.

My first scratch on my '08

I noticed the same abrasion marks on my panel as well. Premiere Cycle Accessories makes those pre-cut clear protectors for various parts of the FJR. I mentioned your problem and mine and Duane is looking into making up a set of pre-cut protectors for the side panels. Fortunately I caught mine...

    lowered 7/8", what to expect?

Did the same to my '08 and I can't tell any difference in handling. Before putting it up on the centerstand I roll the back tire onto 3/4 plywood to ease hoisting it up. Your kickstand should be shortened to have the same lean angle the bike had before. I'm sure under hard riding with a heavy...

    Full system exhaust

Pickles, you're right. The cats *** sentence looks worse in print, and it wasn't my intent to come off that way. It's true so many of the details get lost in a discussion in print versus a verbal discussion, and the pros and cons of various issues in an exhaust topic would fill many pages. It...

    Full system exhaust

I didn't imply it was a haphazard design at all. Do you know what types of crossovers he experimented with and their location? There are a lot of variables. I have no doubt that Dale did dyno work in developing it, but I spoke to him when he was developing it and he didn't say anything to me...

    Full system exhaust

There is a supporting vendor on the other (new) FJR forum (FJR Riders Forum) called No One out of Texas that does a nice decatting job, at least from the pictures he's posted.

    Full system exhaust

If I recall correctly, each core weighed a pound each. So by the time you're done with all the rewelding, you're probably lighter by just shy of two pounds.

    Full system exhaust

If one has the dyno access and the ability to fabricate prototypes, they don't have to go through all the computer simulations to come up with a good header. R & D is expensive and time consuming, and that's part of the reason a well engineered sysytem like Akrapovic costs so much money. I...

    Full system exhaust

I do, but for the software to work properly you really have to build the engine to get all the data to make the results accurate. Mach air flow through the engine has to be figured. You need things like intake and exhaust port volumes, combustion chamber volumes, intake and exhaust port...
