New suspension adventure - for the Hayabusa

I am slightly ashamed to admit that I likely significantly dipped into the LEO karma bank today. I was well-behaved riding out to Chehalis. For some reason, I was less well-behaved on the ride back home. I go back out for another ride Sat-Sun, this time to idaho... I planned to be a model...

New suspension adventure - for the Hayabusa

Going to take the mighty, mighty Busa up to see this man at "Suspension Done Right" today... The weather is not very sunny, but supposed to be dry up over White Pass on HWY 12 - should be a nice ride. Pics to follow.....

New suspension adventure - for the Hayabusa

First update... got my Rebuild Estimate. While I grimaced at the total amount, I realize I'm just gonna hafta pay the $$$ for the quality I demand. Fork rebuild costs are coming in at ~ $545.00. I am not unhappy with this amount - if all I have to do is reinstall the forks on the bike and...

New suspension adventure - for the Hayabusa

This summer's multiple trips on the Hayabusa have indicated I am woefully overdue to freshen up the suspension. Like, way overdue. Suspension systems are about the *only* bike components I am not willing to work on (the internals) myself - in addition to tools needed, etc, I don't do it often...

Gen 3.6 - New Transmission Shifting Issues

Some bizarre comments here.... I haven't seem any of these issues on my Gen 4. At all. That said.... life conspires this past year to not let me ride the bike like I want to.... only managed 6000 miles to date. So if this is something that takes time to "develop", perhaps I haven't seen it yet...

    New tires

I just mounted Dunlop RoadSmart IIIs on the Hayabusa. Awesome tires. When I need to punt the OEM Bridgestones on the matte blue bike, I am going to try the new Pilot Road 5s.

BAD DOG! July 2018 Cognoscente Group event

Bad Dog Newsletter #1 went out yesterday to all Riders, Slackers and Staff. There are two (2) Appendices to the Newsletter - one of them cause a little bit of a stir among some entrants. Can't imagine why.... it's not like we are demanding anything. Oh, wait... maybe we are... Bad Dog...

    2018 Tour of Honor

I like to combined them when possible, and make a SS1K or BBG1500 while scoring all the states TOH sites in 24 hours: Tour of Honor: 2011 Nevada - SS1K Note TOH logo from this SS1K: Tour of Honor: 2011 Utah - SS1K This sure proved to be an interesting writeup.... Tour of Honor: 2012...

    2UP Hyrdation

Fortunately, I don't give a flying rat's *** what it looks like; I am only interested in how it performs. When you ride the blazing hot Desert West like we do - having easy access to water while underway is key. And it has kept wifey and I hydrated in some very hot dry conditions. A lot of...

    2UP Hyrdation

Yep... here is the write-up: For the first time in many years, I need to be concerned about hydration systems for 2 on the FJR. Typically, when riding solo, the hydration system resides on the pillion seat, pillion footpegs, or aft rack. None of these areas are available while riding 2-up with...

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

We shall see.... my Spousal Unit and I plan riding many thousands of miles this year on this beast, so I'm sure we'll have plenty of oppprtunity to see how the matte does under all manner of conditions. Find/procure a 2013 model, and you are set!

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

Well... it does seem like a reasonable position that, if one doesn't care for matte finishes, then this paint scheme is probably not for you. Okay, then. But for those who haven't seen the matte finish anywhere but under showroom floor florescent lighting, I wouldn't short-change myself until...

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

Please don't make me post photos of your old blue FJR with the Canary Yellow metal bits that you powder-coated all over the bike. That way, I won't be compelled to mention how coincidental it is that Canary Yellow is the preferred vehicle color choice among the LGBT community. NTTAWWT.

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

Yes, they do. They are lit whenever the ignition is on. They are DOT-mandated here.... England doesn't have mandatory running lights?

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

Shyeah, I dunno if my Whore LEDS will stay or not, but they are fun to play with. The challenge is to light up the road beneath you *without* exposing to LEDs to the bystander's eye. Which means they need to be recessed, and point straight down to the road below them. Mounting them is...

    Front end rattle 2016 FJRES

I seem to be suffering this mystery ES front end rattle as well on the 2018 matte blue bike. Mortenk has accurately described this clucking sound. It is particularly noticeable over small bumps, driveway lips, small potholes, etc. I am hard-pressed to think a factory new bike with less than...

    Phantom Blue Matte Paint encounter

Fortunately, they have to be installed when uncrating the bike, so my Matte Blue bike never had these pointless fork reflectors. The rear hard bag reflectors also did not last long; they were the original topic of this thread. I just don't want pointless, DOT-mandated reflectors breaking up the...
