    Is Cruise Control Consistent

Based on my '15 and how observant I am of my speed (others may be more/less observant). On highways and other roads with gradual to moderate rate of altitude change my speed change is roughly ± 2-3 mph. On roads with more severe altitude change my speed may vary ± 4-5 mph with sag going up...

New 2017 FJR Announced, Raven it is!

Gen I was the valve stem seal and valve guide issue. Gen II was a stuck instantaneous fuel usage display error, fired key switches, ECU FI altitude errors and a big dash of spiders on the side. Gen III seems to be very rough engine performance needing the throttle body replaced and multiple...

Fault Code 14 Gen II - Solved

+1, back streaming from the TB is very likely the cause. There is nothing in the sensor which would cause goo in the hose. It's unlikely that this would contribute anything to the issue, but, the movement of the diaphragm in the sensor *may* encourage fuel vapors to be pulled into the hose...

    (Split) Off-topic about maintenance

This is a picture from another Forumite that didn't do the maintenance. The bushing in the lower right part of the picture should be shiny bronze that is a perfect cylinder with perfectly round holes. But, we drift from the OP's topic for this thread.

Fault Code 14 Gen II - Solved

Just don't spritz, blow compressed air or pipe clean the sensor itself. Nothing should go into the sensor's orfice opening, it is a sensitive electronic device. The FSM says:

The parts list diagram isn't clear but I believe you need P/N 3GM-26455-00-00 -- BUSH. Anybody in your area that carries Yamaha parts should be able to get this for you.

Fault Code 14 Gen II - Solved

Good find! A $0.00 fix, even better. It looks like this is another of the off beat problems which us Forumites have been able to find and document for the collective. I don't know if this is common enough to become a normal maintenance check, but if you own a higher mileage Gen II and you are...

    Battery removal

A battery charger will bring a low battery up to full charge. A trickle charger will deliver a small current to replenish a battery at the same rate as the self-discharge. A battery "tender" will maintain the battery as necessary to keep it at full charge and turn off the charging unless...

    Broken Penske Clevis.

Here is your updated clevis. Please note: This disclaimer does not reflect the thoughts or opinions of either myself, my company, my friends, or my dog: don't quote me on that; don't quote me on anything; this disclaimer is subject to change without notice; text is slightly enlarged to show...

Fault Code 14 Gen II - Solved

The referenced thread above is for a Gen I. Gen II lost one of the two pressure sensors so the FI calculations work a bit different. It turns out that the Code 14 has shown up periodically. One mention is here along with the cure and another here.

Check your cam chain tensioner, if it doesn't have a paint dot, change it. Do a valve check at the same time if it is anyplace near due, you should will already have the timing cover off when you change the CCT. You really need to keep tension on the cam chain when the CCT is removed. Read up...

2006 FJR1300 YCCS stuck in 5th gear, code SH51, windshield down

I'm always amazed when changing the light bulb in the living room fixes the leaky toilet in the upstairs bathroom. Guess I need to take a look at the schematic again and see how this is possible. At this point I'd be inclined to think that something else got moved in the process of working...

    07 FJR 1300

Browse through this. You can take the VIN and call any Yamaha service shop and have them run the number to find out if the recalls are done. The issues that you would be concerned with are covered by Yamaha; the big items would be the ground harness and the key switch. These are the major...

    EOM 2017 Discussion

Another vote for earlier is better. And, an agreement that it's the weather, later means that traveling two-up we have to leave New England wearing arctic gear and then need warm and wet gear for the Wytheville area.

    Bent valve in 2005 Expedition

There are a number of things that an engine can do to either make the O2 sensors and cat con look bad or simply kill'em both outright. I would want to know what the failure mode was and why it wasn't the fault of the new engine. After all, everything was well until the new engine started...

Help I lost rubber windshield nuts

Any good hardware store or any of the Big Box stores like Lowes should have 10-32 SAE Well Nuts in stock. The SAE nuts fit the 5mm x 0.8mm plastic screws perfectly.

    starting issues

Brush wear, clogged & shorted commutator bars and oil seal leaks and known starter motor failure modes. No matter what, once the starter shows excessive current draw it has to be removed and repaired or replaced. Why the starter failed is only a matter of curiosity. And, us Forumites are a...
