Where did they install the grip controller, and how did they wire it? If they went to the battery terminals, then yes, they had to take the C panel off. Not sure what is included in the 600 miles service since mine was 35K miles ago...

Sounds like maybe it got overtorqued and the internal fairing tab broke. Try removing the other C panel bolts and see if you can remove the panel even with it in place. Maybe get some needle nosed pliers and grab the bolt head and see if you can extract it.

That'll be my next action... Unless Ian decides to make good on his most recent promises...

Sorry to hear about this tragedy... my condolensces to the family and friends of the victim... A similar incident happened about a week ago to a guy who works for my company... he luckily survived with some minor broken facial bones (was only wearing a brain bucket) and some road rash...
