    2014 Stumble on accel.

When the throttle by wire system was introduced on the 2006 R6 there was a mechanical connection between the cable mechanism and the throttle valves. You could force the valves closed with the throttle grip. You can see the mechanical linkage in this drawing...

    Fuel gurgling after hot shutdown

My '04 often exhibits a boiling or gurgling sound from the fuel tank after a hot shutdown in the heat of the summer. I assume it's from fuel boiling in the fuel rail, bubbling out through the pressure regulator and returning to the tank. I'm curious if the '06 and later FJRs exhibit this...

My '07 feejer stopped running after dropping it off ctr stand for ride

Where does the rectifier/regulator DC(-) connect into this network? As I recall the R/R is back under the seat in front of the wheel. You'd think there would be an express line connection to the high current loads.

    2006 Front caliper mounting bolts

Same bolt was used through the 2010 model. New bolt used on 2011 through today. The price is a bit higher for the 2011 bolt. Is it also hollow?

    Anyone recognize this?

A protective cover for any sharp edges of the clamp. There are similar covers on the clamps on the fuel return hose between the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump on my '04. Somehow I managed to lose one of them when I installed my Audiovox CC many years ago. Probably dropped down...

    Faulty neutral indicator and windshield

If the backup fuse is open the clock and trip-meters would quickly go away at key off. If they are working OK, retaining data, look somewhere else.

    Positioning to check tire pressures

Since I almost always check while on the sidestand I use a chart I created and a four foot "yardstick". I approach the bike from the right side and make a mental note of where the stems are. I look on my chart and see how far I need to roll the bike forward or backward to get each stem at the...

    Positioning to check tire pressures

I have OE type short straight valve stems. I rarely put the FJR on the centerstand so I typically measure pressures while on the sidestand. How do you position the FJR to check pressures? Do you always check rear pressure while on centerstand? Where do you like to have wheel/valve stems...

    Front Tire Cupping/Scalloping

Run slicks with no tread blocks and you'll get fairly uniform wear. Tread blocks deform when you lean, when you brake, whenever you exert a non-vertical force on the tire. Obviously adding air makes the tire more rigid with less deformation but at the cost of ride harshness and a reduction of...

Gen III : front brake light switch and cruise control...

Maybe you need to add a momentary pushbutton switch to turn on the brake lights anytime you want them. Since they are relay actuated you'd be switching a tiny relay coil current with the pushbutton. An easy circuit mod. Obviously Yamaha doesn't want runaway bikes on their hands. They've...

    2006 Front caliper mounting bolts

I use the torque wrench on the caliper bolts. They always remove very easily for tire changes, etc. I've never experienced a loose caliper bolt. Threadlocker is not required here. I use the torque wrench on the fork/axle pinch bolt as well.

    Rubber insert in rear carrier

One of the rubber inserts in my '04 OE rear carrier dropped out on the garage floor. I have the OE non-metal rear carrier which provides handholds and a place to attach lightweight objects. There are two inserts, one in each handhold. Are they attached with adhesive? What keeps them in place...

Gen III : front brake light switch and cruise control...

If the two NC contacts operate at different amounts of lever movement you might try transposing the connections to the switches. Connect the brake circuit wiring to the more sensitive switch -- the cruise control switch. Connect the cruise control circuit to the less sensitive switch -- the...

    5th Generation -- 2016 FJR

From Yamaha Europe -- "2016 marks the 5th generation of the famous FJR1300. With over 100.000 units sold world-wide, the bike has been a remarkable success and Yamaha has once more meticulously developed it, keeping true to its original concept."...

    Audiovox Cruise install troubleshooting help.

Disconnect the purple wire and parallel it with the servo's black wire. This will isolate it from the brake circuit and assure that it's at ground potential -- the same potential as the black wire. On the ABS bikes the brake circuit yellow wire also connects to the ABS control module. I don't...

    How you pronounce kilometer?

I've been watching some of the bicycle race in France. I'm always curious about how the announcers pronounce kilometer. People can't seem to agree on how it's pronounced. One would believe the correct way is "kilo" meter. We pronounce kilogram as "kilo" gram. Many say "kilom" eter. Maybe...

    Valve check

Recommendations on what one might use to the fill in the space around the coolant pipes as they pass down through the head cover? I try to vacuum out any debris down there before removing the pipes but I've been concerned about bits of debris falling down into the ports as I remove the pipes...

    2015 FJR1300A -- Inverted Forks?

Are inverted forks better protected against oil seal leaks? It appears that the fender protects the exposed moving portion of the tubes from bug strikes and grime accumulation. The cover on standard forks doesn't appear to be as protective against bugs, etc.

My Baby shut down in mid flight.

Would need to verify what's happening to the fuel pump -- injector power when this is happening. If the injectors lose power you'd have a quick shutdown, It's possible the lean angle sensor is going wonky and shutting off the fuel pump and injectors. Do you have to cycle the key off before...

FJR frame not an electrical conductor

I would assume that the R/R's DC+ conductor would go almost directly to the ignition switch. Most of the large currents pass through this switch and on to the fuses, etc. The ignition switch is where everything's happening once the engine is started. Not much current flows from the R/R to the...
